Just wanted to bring everyone's attention to the fact that Cinema1 is now allowing online ordering! Finally I say! lol
Hopefully there will be some "deals" and not just MSRP prices. One I found is The Shallows on 4K UHD for $24.98 They're still updating the site, adding their full catalogue it says. Hopefully in the future there will be a store stock and pick up options. Who knows! But it's good to see another retailer join the e-commerce marketplace instead of fold up like a Dodo. ![]() |

Hopefully, they do s&h deals. After some testing, their cheapest prices for Ontario (and probably the same all across Canada) are $4.99 for 1 item at $33.88 tax inc., $7.99 for 2 items totaling 48 bucks (tax inc.), 10 bucks for $56 (tax inc.) in 3 items. Otherwise, not much of any deals with the added S&H charges.
Maybe once the site is updated, more info available. |

I think it's great there's another Canadian-based retailer of media getting online!
![]() So, I've been looking at what Canada Post charges for shipping parcels and packages, and noticed there are business plans available. I wonder if the outrageous shipping costs for parcels for individuals - minimum $10 for shipping a single movie sized package with tracking - could be cut down considerably for merchants like cinema1? This is probably the biggest hurdle for online stores to get over, as high shipping costs definitely impact the overall visible "value" of the products they're selling. With physical media having such a small margin for profit, I can see this as a turn-off for the customer. It seems that some online stores work shipping and handling costs into the cost of the product, in order to keep the shipping price looking lower than what it is. However, it would be great if our post system could work to improve the small e-retailer landscape. I know USPS in the US offers their states-side merchants much better value for their $$. Would be nice for fellow Canadians to give each other a break too! |

these services must offer killer discounts or something. but it seems like none of these services are available in Canada for domestic shipments. |

Not sure if it's YMMV because prices online are different but I was just at the Guelph store and bought a few 4K Catalogue titles for decent prices - lots of the Sony stuff is on sale. Picked up Ghostbusters 2 and Bram Stoker's Dracula for $16.99 each and Starship Troopers for $20 (they had Labyrinth and a few others also for $16.99).

The Complete Halloween Collection is only $39.99. Back ordered at the moment, but you can still order it. About $5 shipping. Still a pretty great deal! Lowest price I've ever seen it.

Went into the Cinema 1 in Barrie today and picked up the Halloween set for $39.99. I think they had one or two left if anyone in the area is interested. They did have some other horror blu-rays on sale, but was short on time today and didn't have much time to browse. Not sure how long this deal goes til.

The Twilight Zone: The Complete Series on br is still going for $69.99 - it's on backorder but usually takes a week on their end to receive it. If you just order the set, the S&H is 4.99, so $74.98 plus applicable taxes is a great price.

Probably an Ontario thing, but only 4.99 shipping here.
wowhd ships from the US - chance an additional duty charge. If you live in Ontario (and possibly neighboring provinces), don't pass up on cinema1's deal. Last edited by RickyBetter; 09-24-2018 at 12:45 PM. |
