Default Batman shooting fails to thrill fans

October Pictures, the Hong Kong company handling the production, are doing some filming here for the new Batman flick.

Lot's of fans lined the waterfront yesterday for a glimpse of the masked crusader.

A C-130 Hercules transport plane fley low over Victoria Harbour together with a couple of choppers.

South China Morning Post: "Batman Shooting Fails to thrill fans - With the filthy state of the water having forced the scrapping of a scene in which the caped crusader was to leap from the plane into the harbour, the high point of yesterday's filming was the sight of black smoke pouring from one of the helicopters"

I can just imagine the conversation between the director and stunt man:

STUNTMAN: "Yip all ready here"
DIRECTOR: "Not sure about the water - rather filthy"
STUNTMAN: "You kiddin me right? - you had me on fire last week"
DIRECTOR: "Yeah - but even so.."
STUNTMAN: "And the week before that it was jumping from a 90 foot building"
DIRECTOR: "Sure - but..."
STUNTMAN: "And prior to that it was a head on smash at 120!"
DIRECTOR: "Yeah OK, but jumping into the water in Hong Kong is just plain stupid!"

Is there really a problem with the water or do you think it was a case of the crew saying dirty water eeek?

It's not the water, it's the pollution that's in the water.

Why have they axed such a theoretically awesome shot?

Because the water that he was going to be jumping in didn’t pass water tests the producers conducted. Apparently, the water quality posed a considerable health risk, with salmonella and Mycobacterium tuberculosis being found.

The entire Asian continent is contaminated by pollution, with China and Indonesia being listed in the top four polluters in the world. Hong Kong’s harbor has apparently been polluted by industrial and residential waste for a long time, and is definitely not recommended as a swimming destination.

The papers reported that the Batplane would be flying over the harbor at 4PM yesterday (wednesday). Of course as we all know the batplane can't really fly LOL

Yeah, same story here. All the fans that went out waited yonks were expecting a flash lookin' plane with the Batlogo on it. "Low excitement" as one of the paers here reported it. Silly to think it was going to be the real batplane for sure! Not something I would do. Don't know anything about it.

Note to self - there is no Batplane - it is a work of fiction.

And yip, water here is bad. That would be with a capital B.

Yeah William Friedkin is on record as saying people who love movies should never see a movie being made. Tedious to watch.

Of course as a budding filmmaker I'm an exception lol

A few days ago, a story broke in a Hong Kong newspaper claiming that the crew of TDK decided to scrap a stunt that would have had Batman (Christian Bale) drop into a HK harbor due to pollution. BOF insider "A.P." called BS on the story back then and another individual close to the production of TDK told me that the story was mostly fiction. Now, the director himself says it was hogwash.

"That was my decision, nothing to do with pollution. It was simply a script decision."

"Once you see the finished film, you will understand why. As far as the pollution question goes, I honestly have no problem dumping movie stars in it."

nothing to do with pollution
