He died "surrounded by love", a statement from his family said on Tuesday night.

The family said: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.

"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.

Wow! What a career! What an icon! What a musical giant!

R.I.P. my friend! I cannot begin to express what your music has meant to me! Your music has unequivocally made my life better! I hope you're up there jamming with Randy!

He leaves behind a great body of work. Beginning in the early 70s for me, Ozzy & his bandmates played a significant part in my musical journey through life. I feel fortunate to have seen him twice with Randy, & all the other times. Some great concert memories. I had so much fun playing Sabbath songs & some of his solo songs in cover bands as well. I'm sad, but grateful for all the joy his music gave me, & will continue to give. Thank you. Gone, but not forgotten.

When I was ten we moved from Oklahoma to Illinois and lived on a defunct military post outside of Joliet. The family across the street had two brothers a few years older than me who got me into Metallica, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue and other metal. The older brother was a huge Ozzy and Judas Priest fan. He had his bedroom wallpapered with Ozzy and Priest posters, even the ceiling was covered. He made me a mix tape of Ozzy songs that I listened to for the longest time until I could get my own Sabbath and Ozzy albums. The 1980s were a great time for metal/hard rock with Ozzy leading the way.

I don’t often post random positive things, but this made me so happy.

I’m an Uber driver, yesterday I’d been listening to Ozzy ever since the news.. I had a mother and her young boy and girl in the car. The girl turns to her mom and says, mom I think this is my kind of music. Brother chimes in, I know I’m trying to find out who it is. Then I got to tell them about Ozzy and Black Sabbath.. I do believe I made a couple new fans!

Hit me more than I thought it would. Black Sabbath’s greatest hits was my first CD. He’s been in my ears for a very long time.

I had the good fortune to meet Ozzy a few different times, both he and Sharon. They were always very kind to me, and very accommodating, as well. I will miss him always; I will also enjoy his music and my memories of him forever. He was truly one of a kind.
