United Kingdom Great movies you have discovered in 2013

As the year is coming to a close I thought it would be no better time to share which gems you have discovered this year. Could be that you were aware of the title but never really knew what it was about until a new Arrow, Second Sight or MOC's release intrigued you to take a look or perhaps it was a complete blind buy, maybe a friend recommended it or perhaps you did some research on the director, lead actor ect after enjoying another title. What great movies has 2013 brought to you?

Lets discard 2013 new releases from this and focus on archive titles

Mine are Runaway Train and Possession.

I think I'd come across Runaway Train before, knowing it was a film by the director of Tango and Cash. The fact it was based on a script by Kurosawa meant I decided to check it out, expecting a cheesy B-Flick I was pleasantly surprised. Possession, I knew nothing about until the release earlier this year and the reviews drew me to it, I enjoyed the ambiguity and complexity within the narrative, and the strength of the performances; especially from Adjani meant for me it was the most effective horror films I have seen in some time.

Great idea for a thread!

Pigs and Battleships
First Imamura for me and definately going to check out more (waiting for Insect Woman from the MoC sales week).

Tokyo Sonata
Again, introduced to me via MoC.

Amer
Totally surprised and blown away by this. Bought it as a blind buy in HMV for £4 so wasn't expecting much. I wish Argento was directing stuff like this now. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Unforgiven. I bought the Clint Eastwood Directors Collection the other day and this is one of four films (I've seen Gran Torino) that I hadn't seen. Great western and it's got a lot of memorable lines, like "We all got it coming, kid".
