I definitely noticed a difference when watching Spider-man 2. So much more beautiful than the Superbit version on DVD.

I posted this in another thread, but considering that thread is many pages long i doubt anyone will read it.

basically since i've just registered at this site today i can't, for some reason, create a thread so i have to mooch off of other peoples created threads to ask my question.

I bought a PS3 at launch on like Nov. 22nd or w/e it was last year. I have it online so i download the updates every time they come out and what not. I just recently purchased the spiderman trilogy(blu-ray) and while watching the first movie, right at the part where MJ kisses Spiderman hanging upside down, the movie freezes and either goes back to the PS3 "dashboard" if u will, or skips the movie ahead 10-15 min later. I took it back to best buy and swapped it for a new one and the new one does it on the exact same spot. The discs obviously don't have scratches on them, the odds of having 2 discs with a mess up in the same spot is extremely uncommon, and i've never experienced this issue with any other movie including the 2nd and 3rd spiderman movies. Is anyone else having this same problem?

You can tell the difference the sharpness and colors are some much richer on the bluray.

Works fine here with my PS3.

Nice comparison pics. How do they get the screencaps (were these taken with a camera)?

You have yo have been a member for at least 10 days to start threads. It's to curb some issues the forum has been having as of late.

As for your problem sorry I have no idea what's wrong. Seems like an odd one to me. Hopefully someone can help you out though.

Vincent:

Could you please remove the direct links to ZONA (the members here won't be able to see them anyway as they are blocked) since the site is "capped".

Thanks,

Sheesh, who thought of the brilliant idea of comparing the Spiderman 3 DVD to Blu-ray using DVD resolution images (720x405) . That said, even downconverted to DVD resolution it is quite obvious that the blu-ray version is much better & sharper, which probably has a lot to do with the much better compression of AVC.

That said, at least compare using their zoomed in pics (not even those are 1080p, but rather 1024x576) which at least show more of the real difference. Here are the ones I like best, showing the incredible difference in detail and also the superb bitrate advantage of blu-ray, still having excellent detail and quality with no visible artifacts even in very tough to encode action shots.

DVD:

Blu-ray:

Look at the perfect detail of the sand flying around his face on the blu-ray version, compared to the fuzzy things on DVD. This kind of detail would never have been possible using a lower bitrate than is possible on a 50gb Blu-ray disc.
