Although I really enjoyed the first one, gotta say I'm pretty surprised its getting a sequel. The first was surely the type of thing that the excellent 3D help make good.

I'm not amused that Louis CK as Max has been replaced by Patton Oswalt... don't get me wrong - Patton does great voice overs on both Ratatouille & Happy but it's sad Louis can't keep the job due to his controversy from last year...

I wouldn't be surprised if this release got canceled unfortunately. 3D showings for this don't seem to be doing so great in the theaters.

I was the only person at the 3D showing of this movie at my local theater today. They only had two showtimes in the afternoon; the rest of the showtimes for today were in Paper Mario mode.

While it's nice to get the whole room to yourself, it also makes me worry about this movie getting a 3D Blu-ray release when they only manage to sell a single ticket to the 3D showing on its premiere day.

I guess on the bright side, even the 2D showings weren't doing so hot. I checked on Fandango and they only sold a few tickets today to the 2D showings as well.

As far as the quality of the 3D conversions, there's no strong "pop-out" effects that I noticed, but the depth was pretty decent. All in all a solid 3D release. Nothing to write home about, but certainly no reason to watch it flat either.

The best format for this movie is 3D as is usually the case.

It’d be an easy sale in 3D

Almost never if its their film and they release it worldwide -- just like Sony.
So this one will almost certainly be region free just like Pets 1 was

That’s what I thought but the fact that Pets 1 was released stateside, and Pets 2 is not, made me think they may also change Region Coding too. Hopefully not!

This has happened with plenty of Universal 3D discs, and they've all been region free.

- The Great Wall
- The Mummy
- Despicable Me 3

...and more I'm sure.

How come this thread is so dead? My kids love this movie and just realized that 4k and blu-ray version was released today. Unfortunately, 3D blu-ray hasn't been released yet nor a release date. I have it pre-ordered on Amazon UK and will wait for that version. Hopefully it will come soon.

If 3D is good as the first one, then this is must buy as well. For anyone that caught it at the theaters in 3D, how was it?

I’m very excited for this, we love the first one, also on pre order at Amazon.

I spotted this movie today at a shop (didn't know it was out this week).

I hope the 3D version comes out in the UK, I'm waiting for that release

After the wonderful 3D in the first movie, nothing less will do.

I got an email from Amazon UK today with an update on my preorder saying they still don’t have an expected released date, which is odd since it’s out over here as mentioned above

Release date for UK (2D, 3D and 4K) has not been officially announced (but should be early Oct). Aussie release date for all formats is currently showing as 30th Oct (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-...pets-2/392001/
