Default The Rift (1990) US vs. CDN

Looking to order "The Rift" (1990) online, but it looks like the US release has different video and audio than the Canadian.
Does anyone know the video and audio info for the CDN release (both show as TBA), and also any recommendations on which one I should order?

Both releases show as Kino, but the aspect ratio's are different (US: 1.67, CDN: 1.85), and also the languages and subtitles appear to be different.

US version:
-Codec: MPEG-4 AVC (29.28 Mbps)
-Resolution: 1080p
-Aspect ratio: 1.67:1
-Original aspect ratio: 1.85:1
-English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 (48kHz, 24-bit)
-Subtitles: None

Canadian version:
-Codec: TBA
-Resolution: 1080p
-Original aspect ratio: 1.85:1
-Audio: TBA
-Subtitles: English, Spanish

Thanks!

It makes no sense that Kino would release two versions one in the US and one in Canada that has different anything. What are you basing the info on the Canadian version on? I would be willing to bet that if Kino is releasing it then it's exactly the same disc.

Kino is just distributing the release they did not produce it (at least in the US). The US release was produced by Walter Olsen the owner of Scorpion Releasing ...by all accounts that release looks great.

I'm just going by the info on this site, the hyperlinks to each release are embedded in my original post text for US Version, and Canadian version headers above Blu-ray specs.

Maybe the Canadian release is not actually Kino.

Thanks for the info!

Just to clarify, are you referring to the Canadian or US release when you say it looks great???

Since the US blu is OOP, I actually got a hold of the German mediabook on eBay and despite being listed as Region B, it actually plays perfectly on Region A blu-ray players, so there's an alternative if the US blu is too expensive for your liking.

There is no Canadian version. This site routinely adds Canadian entries for US releases so that the affiliate links to Amazon Canada will generate revenue. You can confirm this by looking at the UPC. It's the same on both the Canadian and US entries for this movie.

Thanks for info. So there is no English subs then I presume if the info on the US release is correct.
