Default King Kong (1976)

They really should release the 1976 remake of King Kong on Blu-Ray. It has been only released in France:

A wider release would be great. They should also include the 182 minutes long extended TV version. It was only shown on TV at the time and has never been released. Now there is hope because the new movie Kong: Skull Island is coming in 2017.

Thumbs up

Agreed. I'd also be down for King Kong Lives, cheesy as it is. Then we'd have all the Kong flicks on BD.

That is the only real version i would want on BD. That fake looking Kong in 05 was dumb.

It has been released in more countries than just France, it's had a release in half a dozen or more other countries. Japan, Australia (which has had two different versions), Holland, Spain, Portugal, and Poland have had releases of this, and there is a German version due out soon too.

I have the France disc... but I would buy a Region 1 blu-ray if released. I know this movie is not regarded as really good, but it is one of my all-time favorites. Love the contemporary 70s setting, cinematography, Jessica Lange and Jeff Bridges, and Charles Grodin is comically obnoxious.

Would only get the movie if it had extensive special features.

It's one of my favorites too. I really like it and the musical score is fantastic. Kong looks a bit silly walking around but the suit is well done. I wish they didn't make the sequel.
