Warner Bros Raised By Wolves - The Complete First Season - April 12, 2022

Update: As of right now, this release appears to be Canada only. Warner has done the same thing with other HBO shows like The Witches. While it's still great that this show is getting a BD release, I apologize if I got anyone's hopes up for a US release.

According to a Canadian retail website, Warner will be releasing the first season of Raised by Wolves, which originally aired on HBO Max, on April 12th. I'm not entirely sure if there will be a US release as well, or if it'll be like The Witches (2020), and only get a Canadian release.

I'd been eagerly waiting for this. This will be the first TV show to make it to my collection since Twin Peaks S03.

Probably the most amount of "WTFs" I've ever exclaimed while watching something. It's just so fun. And, curiously, despite being created by Aaron Gurnikowski, it kind of works as a thematic cousin to Scott's Alien prequels.

Pretty late though, should have came out this or next Tuesday before the new season starts, not the Tuesday after the new season ends.

The season 2 trailer suggests we're in for even more "WTFs". I also rarely buy TV shows but might make an exception with this.

I was afraid that this would be a hole in my Ridley Scott BD collection, grateful to see it's getting a disc.

Nice. I really loved the first season, "WTF" moments and all.

I wonder if this will be a Warner Archive release. They seem to handle all/most Warner/HBO TV shows now. I hope we get the White Lotus soon as well.

I just learned The Witches from HBO Max was released in Canada only, so it is possible this could be Canada only too, as the source is a Canadian retailer.. Don't want to get anyone's hopes up for no reason, so I've clarified this in the first post.

Even if it's Canada-only, I'll buy it.

Although if I have to live with bilingual packaging... ugh. lol

It makes importing more annoying, as often the Canadian release is cheaper or easier to import than the American release.

While Ridley Scott only directed two episodes, Luke Scott directed three more, he’s also the executive producer and Scott Free is a production company, so definitely counts as part of his canon.

Yep, anything a director I love directs goes on my shelf, feature or TV.

I just wish we could see his pilot for "The Vatican" that wasn't picked up. One of the actors once uploaded a scene as part of his reel, but that's all the world has ever seen.

And Scott basically designed the thing. The look of the androids - down to Mother's short red hair and their skin-tight suits - was his idea.

Is this the first HBO Max original show to get a Blu-ray release? I think The Flight Attendant is also scheduled for a release in Canada soon, but only on DVD. Maybe Warner Archive wil do a Blu-ray release of that one in the U.S?

Shot using Arri cameras in 3.5k, presented here in 1080P SDR and glorious 5.1.

It could be worse, many TV shows only get DVD these days.

WB will also release the Blu-ray in Japan on April 27th, which likely means it will come out in several other territories, too (like The Witches (2020)):

For a company that’s called Home Box Office, they really don’t seem to care much about a cinema like experience. They still have barely any 4k content on their service.

I wonder if they will even bother to do lossless audio for this?

I loved the show but it’s not worth purchasing in 1080 SDR when I am already paying HBO to stream it in that format and they will likely release a 4k at some point.

They managed to release Westworld in 4k. Do better, HBO.

I wonder if there's a chart of which countries don't have HBO Max, those are the most likely to get a BD, I would think.

Like you say, it's probably mostly whichever countries got The Witches on BD.

I really doubt there will ever be a UHD 4K disc set of this show.

I don't think this will ever even come out on BD in the US, only in markets that don't have HBO Max.

Only a handful of their most massive shows have gotten UHD sets.

Heck, even though Mare of Easttown was a cultural phenomenon, it only even got a WAC BD not sold in brick-and-mortar stores.

If it was filmed in 3.5K, then even the source is less than 4K, and need to be upscaled, no? I mean, it didn't stream in 4K either, so I wonder if a 4K master even exists.
