Default Nothing to see on HDDVD

Oh my goodness, I just found a list of the new releases and upcoming releases for HDDVD and there is absolutly nothing worth even mentioning comin out on the format besides Shrek. If Warner would announce that they would go blu at 1:00 pm at 1:05 pm this war would be over.

They do have a pretty lackluster titles coming out. I agree HD DVD's saving grace right now is low budget players and Warner.

the title is misleading, because a train wreck is always worth seeing

I would probably have more interest in Shrek 3 if I actually ever saw part 2.... -_-

We could almost have this war continue and not miss much. A few titles would be nice blu, but for the most part not missing much, even in the to be announced section.

Default hd dvd

Yeah, HD DVD doesn't have as good of a selection as bluray. My friend bought a cheap hd dvd player and we went looking for movies. I was looking at the blurays and he said, dam I should have bought a bluray player. The selection is just better. HD DVD has a lot of rehashed crap.

The only reason I bought an hd dvd player is becasue of all the free movies(7). It was like getting a free player. I should just get rid of the player, I really don't support hd dvd and REALLY want bluray to win, because it is a much better format. For some reaons, my blurays just seem better to me. The only movies I like on hd dvd that I can't get on bluray is Transformers, Batman(should be on blu soon), the first Matrix, King Kong, Bourne series. Besides that handfull, there isn't much else that I can't get on bluray. I couldn't live without my blu only titles. Plus I am sick of all the DD+ titles. Give me lossless pcm for gods sakes. It would suck if hd dvd won and I can't support it, even if I don't buy but a handful of movies.

Yea, I agree. The list of pre-orders for HD DVD is pretty lacking, except a couple great titles that are coming to Blu-Ray anyway (Blade Runner, Harry Potter).

The Blu-Ray pre-order schedule on the other hand looks great. Can't wait for 12 - 4:

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Independence Day

Don't get rid of your HD DVD player. It keeps it out of the hands of a fanboy. Seriously, though, as long as you don't buy any more HD DVDs, you're set. 7 should more than cover the amount of movies worth having that are HD DVD exclusive...

Outside of some Warner titles and Stardust there isn't anything announced that I want (there's a few old catalog HD DVDs I still want)... there's quite a few from the BR side, outside of Warner titles, that I want, however.

Also: Add me to the list of people tired of seeing DD+ instead of lossless on the HD DVDs I want... Not every movie can really take advantage of it... but it's still a little disappointing popping in something like U-571 and not seeing a lossless track (although at least it has a DTS track).

Well they do have Shrek 3 and The Bourne Identity which are great titles. But from what I last checked that was about it. Kinda pathetic if you ask me.

I also expect to see a huge surge when Warner finally release the Matrix trilogy. Damn that should really be a killer week.

If all those titles were available on Blu, I would buy five of them:
Tremors
Bourne Trilogy
Timecop (guilt pleasure)
BattleStar Galactica
The Kingdom

With a possibility of Star Trek.

The Bourne Series is the last title of the year for them that's exclusive. I know BBuy is the biggest retailer of hi-def discs, but if amazon is any indication, it's not doing what they hoped it would. Remember, this is one of the titles that $150 million for promotional consideration from Toshiba went towards.

I grew up on The Transformers and saw the movie. It didn't stay true to the cartoon. The animated movie was better. Megatron had more character than the movie portrayed. The movie to me was s let down because it was a teen hormone movie with action at the end coupled with bad humor. All my freinds liked it but it was soso for me. The Shrek movies are good though and are the only movies really worth seeing on HDDVD but that's my opinion.

Buying movies is a hard thing for me to do since it has to have a re-watch factor in it. Dont like to buy anything they give on TV/Satelite/Cable 1000 times a month.
Though the blu-ray list has much more classics i would buy like:
A Fistful of Dollars (MGM)
For a Few Dollars More (Sony)
The Dirty Harry Collection (Warner) !!! I would love this!
The Amityville Horror (1979) (MGM)
Few others already out too. Both lists kinda suck but the blu ray list does have much more to offer (resident evil trilogy ide get).
Ide like to see more 70s classics and asian cinema too.

PS
Just ordered Oldboy, Rocky and will look into some classic horror flicks next.
