Default Nyko unveils PS4 Intercooler

For those worried about their new machine overheating, Nyko also unveiled a new generation of its Intercooler accessory. Like earlier models, the Intercooler automatically senses temperature changes in the PlayStation 4 and ramps up the speed of its fans to compensate for the increased heat. Helpfully, Nyko has designed the Intercooler (pictured above) to be as sleek as possible, so while it will add a bit more bulk to the back end of your PS4, the system's stark aesthetic remains uncompromised.

Both the Intercooler and the PowerPak are slated for release later this year. The former will feature a $25 price tag, while the latter is priced at $20.

Not sure how I feel about those things. Electronics hate heat, that much I know....

Never trusted those intercoolers. If it malfunctions it blocks air flow. I have always used a stand alone usb fan in my entertainment center. Never had a problem. Still sporting a 60gig phat

I've taken a different approach: No intercooler, but leave plenty of room around the PS4 so that it has plenty of fresh air to breathe, and remove dust regularly with one of these:

I've heard plenty of bad things about these coolers over the last console generation for me to trust them.

same here, I've never used any on any of mine.. I did have an issue where my slim was getting hotter to the point where the fan was much louder, all it took was me cleaning out the insides and the vents on the underside on the sides.

Those things are a scam. Keep you console in a open area well ventilated.

This may be a good thing for me as someone who has a toddler running about and has to keep the gaming consoles in a closed cabinet. My PS4 fan unfortunately goes into overdrive quite often and I don't always have the option to simply open the cabinet.

Anybody get Nyko's charge base system for the controllers? Just curious if they are still impossible to find.

I don't think adding more fans would help when you fundamentally don't have a supply of cool air...
