Not sure if this is the right place to ask about glitches but please feel free to move this if necessary.
I'm a noob in the tech world/forums. My Taxi Driver BD will play but only if I select Play from the main menu. Any time I bring up the menu and select something else, the menu freezes, rendering my remote useless unless I hit Stop and Play again. I have a Sony BDP-S590 and I've already tried to update firmware: It connected for a second and then said, "Already Updated". Any help would be appreciated as this is film one of my all-time favorites. |

Happened to me with the same player.
Nearly made me postal. I was so angry. -Brian edit- I should check without the USB flash drive in the back. I think perhaps BD-Live is better left OFF. But then again,.. maybe thats not the issue here. |

Does anyone else know of any other movies this happens with before I find out eventually, on my own and go postal myself? Funny, we have the same player and my name is Brian as well. |

Hello fellow cinephiles!
I have encountered a problem with my Memento BD. I have the 2006 release of it and have been able to play it before. It is able to load the menu, begin to play through all the legal junk, but once the film is suppose to begin, the screen is black. What is weird is I can fast forward and skip chapters, but the movie never plays. I plugged in an external drive because I have read that that sometimes helps movies load quicker, but it still did not work. Some additional information that I believe may effect the playback. 1. I am living in Sweden using a US Sony BDP-BX1, on a European Samsung TV. 2. All my other blu rays have played fine up to this point. 3. Could this have any thing to do with NTSC/PAL? Does anyone have any tips or experiences with this. Many thanks in advance. |

I have the same problem on my Philips BDP3380 player (firmware 2.69 as of August 2013).
I've reset the player to factory settings so that I can at least use the green and yellow buttons to save and play from bookmarks, but that's all. I can't access the network from the menu, so no BD Live and no connection. I've had the no network problem with Watchmen Dir's Cut (Warner US) too, but apart from preventing me to log in to BD Player, all the menus work fine. |

Sounds like a region coding problem. There's no NTSC/PAL in HD, just various frequencies: 50hz, 60hz, 24hz, etc.
