They probably felt that there was no need to have a BOGO at all the retail locations, just Amazon would be good enough to squash the big green ogre. They probably don't wan't to give HD DVD an inch this week. I would look for a more widespread sale on the week Bourne comes out. Too bad Fox doesn't get involved. I would love to see a Warner BOGO on BDs

And expect to get hammered for duty and handling charges (£13) because Amazon put the full value of the discs and not the invoiced value. Loads of people have been caught out by this and Amazon are being gits about it. Amazon should ban UK buyers from this deal or maker it quite clear that they will be shipping the goods with a fraudulent documentation.

If you go to sendit.com all their Sony BD's are about 60/70% off. Most of them are £10/£11. Ghost Rider (for example) is £9.89, whereas on play.com it's £17.99. Don't think any of the newer titles are that cheap though, but they are fairly reasonably priced for a UK website, and certainly cheaper than play.com on pretty much every BD.
As for import duty, in theory if your package is worth less than £18 you don't have to pay it. Twice I've been hit with a £12.50 (ish) charge when I bought 2 BD's at a time (less postage). However when Amazon had their previous BOGOF sale I ordered Pirates 1 & 2 and all I paid was the £16.77 for the discs and the postage. I was amazed because Amazon put the value of the package on the from as $57 which I wasn't overly amused about as I could have been charged because of that. When you order from them you're given the choice of bundling things together or sending them separately. If you choose the latter you should avoid the import duty fees although you will pay more postage. But an extra £1/£2 is better than an extra £13. |
