Default Force Friday Deals / Hauls

I did not see a thread about this (didn't look too hard though ).

Anyone care to share what they got, where, and for what price?

Default TRU - only a free poster at their midnight event, I think

Good idea, Jay.

I was at TRU yesterday picking something up for the kids and there was a sign about Star Wars Day and limit of 3 items (of each?) per customer.

I asked what that was about and they told me that apparently they were having a midnight opening for Force Friday.

I asked if there were going to be any sales or give-aways or anything. They pretty much said no, that the "event" was just for the launch of all sorts of new SW related stuff (that they had tons of stacked in the back) that was being released tomorrow (i.e. today), but no special sales or anything.

One clerk did tell me that they would have a free SW poster, but I neglected to ask if it was just free or free with a purchase. I also didn't get to see what it looked like because they didn't have it out yet. I might stroll in there later today to see if they still have the free poster.

I thought it was kind of funny that as I walked out I saw BF like cordons set up next to the entrance as if they were anticipating lines to get in at midnight.

Maybe there were lines and I'm underestimating the power of the Force Friday, but I didn't see why I would have to be there at midnight to buy a bunch of SW toys at likely high prices. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge SW fan and, in particular, we collect quite a few of the SW Lego sets when we can get good deals on them, but from what the 2 employees I asked said, there was no real reason to go at midnight unless you had to have the new SW paraphernalia at midnight and couldn't wait until morning or just later in the season when they will likely be on sale.

I was up at midnight and if there were some door busters, give-aways (other than a poster), contests w/ prizes, maybe even some exclusives only available at that event I might have stopped by.

I'm wondering if that's what Force Friday will be at most retail stores that participate -- the launch of a lot of new SW products yes, but no huge sales, give-aways, prizes, etc...

(Now, watch, I'm probably wrong and a bunch of people are going to post what a mega event the TRU thing was and how they gave out lots of cool freebies. )

Last night, I just did some online ordering and didn't go out.

I got the Sphero BB-8 ($149.99 ordered directly from their website since there didn't appear to be any price differences).

I also got the Air Hogs Millennium Falcon Quad Drone ($88 from AMZ who PM'd WM but I got free same-day shipping).

Came across this article which shows a picture of the poster as well as an exclusive Lego piece that was given out:

The poster is pretty nice in person. It's a high quality gloss print.

OK, I know this post is late and won't help anyone and I didn't get anything that released on FF, but thought I'd share anyway.

I ended up getting the Lego Imperial Shuttle Tydirium set for $74.99 at Target.

It sells for $99.99 but on Fri-Sat they had those SW coupons ($10 off $50 and $25 off $100). I asked an employee how stringent they were on the price thresholds for coupon eligibility since I'd be a penny short.

The employee asked a manager who was walking by and he said no problem. So they just took $25 off my set and I walked out with the Tydirium shuttle set for $75 which isn't too bad.

I saw the MF set, but I already have the the previous one, which I got a couple years ago, and the new one's more expensive too. I'll have to see about that one after people start posting some reviews.

Hmm, that looks pretty cool, I may have to see if that drops in price over the holidays. Let us know how it flies.

The same two coupons (or identical new ones) are still active this week ( http://www.target.com/c/star-wars-fa...nds/-/N-5tdvp# ). However, you lucked out doubly, because the coupons are not supposed to apply to Lego sets (unfortunately).

Oh, wow, I didn't know that. I saw it ad with the coupon posted in the entrance but didn't actually have a copy, so didn't see the fine print. I just assumed it was on any and all SW merchandise.

I thought I also saw a sign posted with the ad near the entrance that said the coupons were only good for Friday and Sat until 11 am. So maybe the coupon that is available this week is an identical coupon but for this week. For some reason I have the impression that the coupon I used was good only Friday and Sat morning.

I purchased the Sphero BB-8 droid. Cost me $249 because of Australian mark ups... But I am happy with it and that's all that matters I guess.

My question is did anyone buy the $28,500 Darth Vader watch?

Yep, as far as interactive toys go, this one is an absolute blast to play with. Once he is calibrated and has done a bit of self exploration he works even better. Even when the hype dies down and he doesn't get played with anymore, he will make a fantastic display piece!

Just the Lego General Grievous for me, wasn't a long build but looks fantastic and well worth the £29.99

I had it in my hands and was thinking about it, but then saw that shipping insurance on the watch was an extra $1.99.

That pretty much killed the deal for me, so I passed.

Just randomly posting back in this dead thread because I just bought Poe's X-Wing ($80 with 10% off at TRU) as a bday gift for a friend's son and wanted to remember when this random SW day they recently made up was.
