Cinedigm has acquired the North American distribution rights to Easy Money: Hard To Kill and Easy Money: Life Deluxe, both based on the novels by Swedish criminal defense lawyer and writer Jens Lapidus. The distributor plans theatrical and home video releases in 2014.
The first film in The 'Stockholm Noir' trilogy, which has been promoted by acclaimed director Martin Scorsese, is being remade by Warner Brothers.
The original Easy Money a.k.a Snabba cash is directed by Daniel Espinosa and stars Joel Kinnaman (The Killing), Matias Varela, Dragomir Mrsic, Lisa Henni, and Jones Danco.
Lionsgate Films are set to release Easy Money on Blu-ray in the United Kingdom on November 11th.
Synopsis: Cash-strapped but ambitious business student JW (Kinnaman) finds himself being drawn ever deeper into the Stockholm underworld when he tries to impress the daughter of a wealthy family. At the same time, minor crook Jorge (Varela) knows that if he can pull off one last cocaine deal, all his worries will be over. As the two protagonists paths prepare to cross, Jorge discovers that time is not on his side, as the police and the Serbian mafia, in the shape of ruthless enforcer Mrado (Mrsic), begin to close in.
