Amazon had listed a game of the year edition of the critically acclaimed PS3 title ‘The Last of Us’ as an upcoming release for PS4. This would answer the long standing question from fans as to whether The Last of Us will be available to purchase on the PS store through PS4 or if it will be available as a physical disc. This image was originally posted on an official TLOU forum before being removed promptly.

It makes sense, the two 'great' games of last Gen are TR and TLOU, one is already on the way, so we should expect the other

If ever there was a title that would be worth it to port over it would be this one. It would be a huge seller and make the devs even more money. I honestly believe it will make it's way to PS4 at some point in time.

I highly doubt they would port a PS3 to the PS4 this soon, maybe towards the end of the PS4 cycle.
Tomb Raider on the otherhand already has everything in place with high quality assets used for the PC version, the work required would be minimal.
Naughty Dog's time would be much better spent pumping all their available resources into Uncharted 4.

It is (EDIT:likely) coming to PS4 and it will happen sooner rather than later.

Yes, I do have inside info and I will not tell you were it came from.

Don't expect an announcement until at MINIMUM two months before. They don't want to kill sells of current gen. So it makes perfect sense for Sony to deny it.

It gets announced and will be in stores in a month and a half.


I predict a June release for the PS4 version.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see other games from last year (or from previous years) get a next gen re-release.
Why? They need titles to fill in the gap. After Infamous Second Son (PS4) and Titanfall the releases are absolutely bare until fall.
Putting out next gen versions allows them to fill in that gap. They're cheap to produce, would likely use PC assets and they can be released in a very short window.

Famousmortimer also hinted at Beyond Two Souls getting a PS4 re-release.

I'd be ALL over this.

GTAV is also a title you can expect for a next-gen re-release.
Bioshock Infinite - maybe, but I hope so.
Borderlands 2 - slightly possible.

They can farm out the porting to a smaller studio similar to what Sony Santa Monica did for the God of War games and what Bioware did for the original Mass Effect.

is this coming from you? if not, source? naughty dog has said they have no plans for a ps4 port, though i suppose that could mean they just aren't the ones doing the port

I guess you didn't bother to read my post since I answered both of those questions in my post.

To reiterate:
I already said in my post that I am not indulging the source. If that means you don't believe me that's fine.

As for Naughty Dog's comments:
OF COURSE that is what they would say! If they announced a next gen version is coming it would KILL their current gen sales. They certainly don't want that to happen when they are getting ready to release some single player DLC and have holiday sales to contend with. Naughty Dog or Sony saying "no plans" is 100% meaningless.

In my opinion (100% opinion no inside info) Last of Us will get a GotY release in June of next year with all DLC, which means we probably won't get an announcement about it until April at earliest.

It may not be a port per se. It is possible they finished developing this on a PS4 dev kit utilizing higher resolution textures. Then downscaled it for the PS3. The PS4 version would be, visually, what was originally intended. This wouldn't be like an HD upconvert port.

What is known is that Naughty Dog has already ported their engine over to the PS4, which should mean that porting their library over could be done with minimal effort.
