Default Stargate the movie playback problems

Is anyone else having trouble playing the Stargate: The Movie Blu Ray disc? I have a BD 390 and when I start the disc it takes forever to get to the menu and I can't use the title pop up button with out the movie getting glitchy.

If I may suggest, try this... reset your player. If I am not mistaken, I think you'll switch off the unit, then holding down on the power button and eject button at the same time, forcing the unit to factory defaults. This will not blow off the latest firmware. You may have to go to the factory website to see how to reset the player to factory settings; sometimes, but not always, during a firmware upgrade, there may be a hiccup that occurs. It has happened to me with my Sony BDP-S1 player. After you reset the player to factory defaults, see if the problem is reproducible. I hope this helps. If not, you may want to flash the firmware again. Let us know how that turns out for you.

When I loaded into my Panasonic BD 60, it took forever to go to menu, then it wouldn't let me choose between theatrical/expanded edition. Then when I tried to load it a second time, it would start to load into the java/bd live area, then would return to OFF position. Finally had to eject my SD card out the player and it was able to load. When I finished the film, I tried to watch the Special Features and I could not even move the cursor on the pop up menu.

I wonder if the blu ray player vendors will have to do a firmware upgrade. Sounds like the older models, like I have may not be friendly to this blu ray version of the movie. Another user has had issues as well. Now I am worried. I'm going out to buy my copy tomorrow from BB (hate Bestbuys, but watcha gonna do?). Hope I don't experience any issues. Sony has not had a firmware update sine June 09 for my player. Thats a lont time without a firmware update. Kind of hints that Sony isn't going to support my unit anymore...

I just picked it up today also and cannot get it to load either. It plays the previews and then just keeps trying to load to no avail.... guess I'll be returning it tomorrow...

Wait one or two minutes after the last preview - if it doesn't load the Menu, eject the disc (without powering off player), and insert the disc again and wait till the menu loads again. This will likely fix your problem since it seems the menus are having trouble loading the first time around. My best advice though is to complain to Lionsgate - it seems like this is happening more than a few people. They'll probably make a revised version just to address this issue.

Same basic problems playing on my Panasonic BD80. I noticed it seems to take forever to load the feature menu post shorts, then aborts to stop and the opening device menu. Nothing gets it to play more than the previews. Plays just fine on my PS3...

If you are having problems playing the disc, can you post the make and model as well as the firmware version of your player?

During the previews, try hitting the top menu button and see if after a minute or so it let you access the main menu. Also, during playback of the extended edition, try hitting the pop up menu and see what happens. Let us know how it goes after you do that....

Thanks

Hitting the top menu button during the previews, the screen goes blank..you can hear the disc spinning but thats it.,then after a min or 2 it goes to main menu.
During playback of the extended version if i hit the Pop up menu button it goes to the menu with the film still playin in widescreen in top right corner

Sorry about the thread revival but started having trouble with Stargate today - first time I tried to play it in my Sony changer just keeps loading - Gracenote recognizes the disc but it just won't play - It is the original version

I think it's a Sony problem but just wondering if anyone is having the same problem with the remastered 15th Anniversary Edition...

Lionsgate has secretly issued two different versions of the remastered Stargate. The first was using VC-1 and was incorrectly authored, which causes playback problems. You have to hunt down the AVC copy, which is fixed and should play on any player. Unfortunately there is almost no way to distinguish between the two versions outside of opening the copy and playing it to check which codec it uses. Many copies of the bad VC-1 version are in the retail supply chain, as Lionsgate never instituted a recall.

I know there has been no entries in over 2 years on this thread. I just got my new copy today as the old copy (the first pressing of the BD) didn't have any subtitles for when RA was speaking so I didn't know what he was saying. I just started the playback and found that I have the AVC copy so that's good.

I am having audio issues on my Blu-Ray (15th Anniversary, AVC version). I was ripping/transcoding my disc to put on my HTPC. When comparing the file to the disc, I noticed a problem on both. During the scene with the Abodos humans rising against RA's forces (between 1:58:00 and 1:58:40 on the extended cut), the high trumpet parts of the soundtrack sound... fluttery. It's like you are listening with a computer case fan next to your ear. Since the soundtrack is very prominent here, it is actually quite distracting.

I checked a torrent download to compare, and heard the same thing. However, when I checked the Netflix stream, I did not hear this (the trumpets sound normal). Is this just a problem with the 15th Anniversary edition blu-ray? I heard this both on my computer (using headphones), and on my PS3 (soundbar) using the original disc.
