Default Making Video Stills from DVD

How do I make video "still pictures" from off of a cartoon on DVD (like you would see still pictures sprinkled throughout a Blu-ray.com review of a movie on BD or 4K BD)? I want to store the images on some digital form like a DVD-ROM or onto a USB drive. The source is strictly DVD - there has never been a Blu-ray disc of the animated series that I am describing.

My goal: to use the digital images to help make action figures via a 3D printer and very good visual software to make the figures possible.

And don't worry -- one of the producers has already been contacted and he thinks it would be a "fun idea" to "bless (the production company) with" (sorry for the secrecy, as this is my personal project).

I will use my MacBook Pro/DVD drive as the beginning tool.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.....
