Default Video Quality - Streaming and Blu Ray quality of PS4 vs Standalone BR Player?

Hi guys. I'm wondering what the consensus is on the PS4 in the forums vs. a standalone Blu ray player. Primarily concerned with Blu ray playback quality over standalone player say something like BDP-S6500. I have the BDPS6500 and I think it's good but I'm wondering if the PS4 is just as good or better than that player in terms of video quality. Thanks.

The 6500 upscales to 4K & the PQ is better on the 6500. It's also faster than the PS4 @ load times with more detailed info during playback.

So you think overall the 6500 is a better machine for playing blus and online streaming content? I'm shocked. How could the PQ be better on something that seem inferior to the hardware of the PS4? Thanks.

I haven't used the 6500 much for streaming cuz my tv has better apps & will actually play Netflix in 4K so I can't say one is better then the other. I compared the 6500 upscaled to 4K vs PS4 @ 1080. Anyway the standalone is a complete package. Plays CDs, chassis is dust free built, near analog search by frame, 3D playback.. Most of all.. Reliable & has a dedicated remote. lol

BD...it's abbreviated BD.

And yeah, when it comes to being an entertainment device, PS4 is a bit of a letdown considering what came before it. Hell, The only good-ish remote you can get for it isn't even from Sony themselves.
