For region free or B friendly players, there is a release already from Italy.

Thanks, Kris. I looked around a bit and couldn't find it cheaper than 23.99 EUR though... plus 10 EUR shipping

Edit: I'll try to get it through eBay.it

Looking forward to this, Kathryn Bigelow's been away for far too long. If you haven't seen it take a look at her Pirelli advert Mission Zero http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXhjScS-QfA I'd like to see that in high def.

I think I'll go and see this at the Empire/BFI Movie-Con next week. It's had rave reviews.

Had mine since thursday , watched it and yes it is one of the best films of this year.

Yeah, we lose the commentary but the rest is identical to the US release.

Picked up a copy of this in HMV today - It looks to be region free despite the B on the back of the case and the disc, as it plays on my currently set to region A bh-100.

Really? Most Lionsgate discs are Region Locked and seen as it has a different distributor in the US, I thought it was almost certain that it was Region Locked.

Some say film of the year

Oh and ordered Generation Kill Blu-ray on top of it
I didn't think Generation Kill was available in the UK on Blu; may I ask where you have ordered it from? I was going to try and import from Amazon.com, but every time I order something over the customs threshold, from Amazon.com, I get shafted by HM Revenue and Customs AND the Post Office.

I got Generation Kill on blu from Movie Tyme, here:
http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/default.php
They have a good list of tested region-free stuff, I've had 3 orders delivered so far no problems at all and no extra fees for importing.

Does anyone recommend this as a 'blind buy'? Not sure whether to purchase it or not.

I have heard nothing but great things about this film as well, I will probably pick it up blind buy. I picked up Inglorious Basterds blind buy and regretted it, as it was quite overrated and extremely dull. I can't imagine Hurt Locker being a bad film, I don't think you can go wrong, but if you belong to Netflix, you may want to simply rent it first.

Gave this a rent. Good movie but not sure I would buy it. Maybe if I can buy it on the cheap.

Interesting. This registered as region locked on my Oppo BDP-83 when set to Region A.

Brilliant movie BTW!

I'll double check the disc tonight, but I'm very sure my bh is left set to A.

Yup, I'm an idiot - the player was set to B, and the disc is locked to B.
