Talking What's you're best BLU deal since you started collecting?

I don't know if there is something like this already going, if there is I'm sorry. Merge it, delete it, whatever ya gotta do. Here's the deal...I just wanna hear about everyone's greatest deals they have ever gotten on a blu-ray. What I'm really trying to ask is, How jealous can ya make someone that's just been holding out for that perfect price and it never came but, somehow you found it?

Can't wait to hear some great stories!

There's a lot of threads like this, but the winners are always people catching pricing errors and the company honoring them.

Not for me. Movies are a subjective passion, and my best deal was Lawrence of Arabia Collector's Edition for $70. That may or may not be MSRP, but if there were a nuclear war and Blu-ray disks became the currency of the wasteland, I would not part with it.

When Best Buy was doing the room contest and the polls for points. I used my earnings from part of that to buy Game Of Thrones Season 2 - Lannister cover for $5 on Day 1.

Also, I pre-ordered the Criterion BBS Story - America Lost & Found box set from Barnes & Nobles before it came out. They then lowered the price so I worked with them to match the price. Through complicated machinations, I ended up with 2 for the price of 1, so I got 1 for free which I eventually used to trade for an OOP Criterion DVD I wanted that was pretty pricey (Tokyo Olympiad).

I was one of the few that got Boardwalk Empire S.1 for $9.00 ($3.99 plus shipping). It was a sale from ImportCDs. It was all about timing and many people had their orders canceled.

Got this for around $23 from Amazon during Cyber Monday last year. Previously it had been assumed OOP and gone for about $60/70.

Love the film and the set contains the Ultimate Cut that was never released in the UK, as well as the Motion Comic which was DVD only in the UK and arrived mostly intact. So I was really happy with that.

I was really happy with Amazon's flash sale last year when they had several of Paramount's titles that were now being distributed by Warners, mostly priced at $1 each. I picked up 16 titles for less than $30 after tax.

Also, whenever movie money/cash is included, and the price of the Blu is the same as the value of that movie money/cash, or sometimes less. That's a good deal to me.

The Twilight Zone: The Complete Series box set for $148 on Amazon.

I'm dead serious.

When it comes to the ratio of content quality versus expense, this box set is the best deal all around.

I'll take your $148 and raise you DVDPlanet's $64.33 price error last November. BEST. DEAL. EVER.

I'll agree with you that anything under $150 for The TZ complete series is an overall fantastic deal. Demo material for sure.

A mint Man Who Fell To Earth Criterion at Half Price Books for $25 at a time where the title was already going over $100 on ebay and Amazon. As a big Bowie fan I jumped on it

I picked up the oceans trilogy box set at best buy a few years ago for 10 bucks. One of the best deals I've personally got.

I've gotten quite a few deals due to this website but at this point in time the DVD Planet TZ complete series deal is pretty hard to beat.

I would also have to say the Disney Movie Club. There's no way I could have collected so many Disney titles without it.

Another big recent one was the Criterion Collection Zatoichi boxset at B&N for a less than $60. Ended up with two. Which I guess I should also say getting lucky and being able to use coupons during the semi-annual Criterion sales at B&N. Like the DMC, no way would I own as many Criterion Blu-rays without it.

The recent FYE B1G1 for a dollar sale was pretty good too. Stocked up on a lot of 3D titles for an average of $9 or so.

Well, I just received my region-free japanese "Mastered in 4k" copy of Lawrence of Arabia for $45 (4673 Yen). At double the bitrate and roughly half the price of your edition, may I conclude I struck a deal (about) four times better than you?

I also remember my hunt for "Ayan", a tamil blu-ray that was apparently sold out everywhere on the planet in the spring of 2013. => Unavailable with trusted webshops in India, the US and the UK. By chance I decided to search outside the anglo-friendly box and googled "Ayan france". Lo and behold a french website turned up and I could order this blu-ray from french web-retailer "Singing Cinema". After I had placed my order there I posted this info on blu-ray.com's India forum. Another blu-ray.com member also placed an order for "Ayan" with this web-shop, however it turned out that I had scored their very last available copy. (The other member got a refund) Knowing I own (about) the last available copy on the planet of "Ayan" gives me a rise.

Song from "Ayan" (for me to see in 1080p) =>

The cheapest blu-ray's I remember buying are "A.I", "Reservoir Dogs" and "Zack and Miri make a Porno" for 5 EUR each.
