The only language this BD seems to have is English
Man I really hope the original German soundtrack is included.
Watching Hitler speak English is just as fake as watching A Mexican speak French or something.
English subs are enough. I know that Americans can just never watch a movie that is not either in English or English dubbed but I was thinking that the UK had higher cultural standards on this particular issue.
By the way, the name of the movie is Der Untergang.

Not all Americans like English Dubbed. I personally hate it. I would much rather have a movie in its native language with subtitles. I am sure that many of my fellow Americans on here would agree.

There is no need to be upset. The German track will be on the disc. And we will have a timely review as well.

I have the HD DVD that was released in Spain back in 2006. If the picture is as good as that was, you won't be disappointed. It is also coming out in France at the end of November as a steelbook, but it may not have english subs.

Well, glad to hear it. Of course I would not mean all Americans, you never have 100% in any case. But I know for a fact (and figures specialists are welcome to comment). that Americans in their vast majority do not like to watch a subtitled movie. How many movies not in English make it to the box Office ? answering "few" would still be not true.

The two typical cases are either non American movies made in English from the start to have access to the American market, example: Leon, The 5th Element, The Messenger, Arthur and the Minimoys etc ... or movies RE-made just for the American market such as "Les visiteurs" (Just visiting).

Anyways if there is an English track it is okay as long as the original track is included so that everyone has a choice

Well a French sub will do for me.

Although I'm in the UK, I have a US player - so does anyone know whether this will be region-free? (I'm sure our American readers will want to know this as well!)

A previous Momentum Films release, Football Factory, was region-free, so there is hope yet. I would wait for an official report from the doctor.

I hate it as well, nothing wrong with "reading" a movie.

Is this the extended version?
I have no interest in the theatrical cut.

That would be nice, but somehow I doubt that Momentum will give us that. As far as I know, the extended edition has been released only in Japan (on DVD in a 3-disc set, which also includes substantial extras).

As you're in Miami, you'd better not get too excited until we know whether it's a region-free release! (I want to know as well, since I have a US player!)

!!! I hope someone tells me this is region-free. I'm upset because one month ago I purchased the DVD and it was INCREDIBLE. I rented it on a whim, and for me, a history buff, the movie left me speechless. Moving. Daring.

I got my e-mail today from amazon.co.uk with the release date... I had (hopefully) pre-ordered it some months back. This is one title that I'm looking forward to. As the press advertisement said at the time:

"It has a happy ending... He dies!"

In Germany we also got the Extended Version on DVD.
I won't buy a Blu-ray-Disc of the theatrical version.
