I have the steelbook, but I really liked the look of the digibook, and wasn't able to get hold of the US one

I am also collecting the digibooks anyway. If this is really limited then this could sell out fast, so I'm getting my pre-order in now

Now where's the one for ET?

That's annoying, considering I imported the US one. Why can they not just announce these upfront?

Wish they had announced this the same time as the Steelbook so I didn't have to buy both, but as its such a great film I don't mind so much, ordered

This! Universal really screwed a lot of people over by crapping this out months after official release!

Well, for everybody who imported from the US, this is quite a shitty move.
However, my interested in blu-ray reignited just a bit to late, so I'll be picking this up (my first digibook, yay!).

To a certain degree I agree with you but I have had my best buy digi for a about a month now and have watched it three times!
Yes they should have announced it earlier and released it at the same time as the general release.
In saying that I don't have any regrets even though it cost me a few pound more but I do like the way my import has the specs on the back of the digi,I'm not sure if that is the case with the U.K release.

Used Hive to get the Lynch Box Set had no problems. Just pre-ordered the Jaws Digibook with them with shipping it came to Ł13.24.

There is never a right time to announce new releases. Someone will always say "I just got this!".
What if they announced this release 7 days ago and you ordered the steelbook 8 days before?!

That's the dumbest statement i've ever heard.

It would've been very easy for Universal to announce beforehand: "We're releasing 3 different Jaws editions on September 3rd: Digibook, Steelbook and Standard! Buy whichever you want!" or even just come out and say that they're releasing a Digibook alone on November 19th - Done.

I think the problem has arisen because Universal have made this part of their "100th Anniversary" digibook collection and therefore NOT part of the official Jaws release. It's the same treatment they would've given it if Jaws had been out on blu years ago only, unfortunately, in this case it just came out a month or two earlier.

It's not great, but I don't think they're doing it to deliberately hurt people. The releases are just part of different campaigns, that's all.

Except of course that the US had all versions released simultaneously, so your theory really doesn't hold up.

But what do i care, i got the Digibook in August from a Danish site, but it would've been nice to get it from Amazon uk since it's my preferred merchant.

What do you mean? We're not talking about the US release - we're talking about the UK release. Different marketing departments. Different release strategies.

I'm not saying it doesn't suck, we just don't know what's going on at Universal UK to be able to suggest that they definitely could have announced all the versions in advance. Worst case: buy the digibook and put your steelbooks on eBay - they'll sell for sure.
