interesting. don't remember a thing about this flick except a spaceship w/ a trashcan, and only years later realizing that it starred both River Phoenix and a young Ethan Hawke... will be curious what they can do for features here

Dammit, MINUTES after I pre-ordered King Kong with a few cheap titles to get the free shipping, this pops up.

Oh well, I'll have to pre-order as well...

One of Dante's most charming and underrated features, even if he could never "finish" it the way he wanted to at the time. Great F/X, lovely Jerry Goldsmith score, and terrific Rob Bottin creature work. Plus, Dick Miller...!

Oh my god ohmygod ohmygod. I can’t believe it’s happening, it’s really happening.

Joe Dante has been vocal about wanting to access Paramounts vault to do his cut...that HAS to be the second runtime right? Right!?

EDIT: looks like the theatrical cut is different than what was released on video, so probably not getting a new cut from Dante, but awesome that both cuts are included! Unless we get a surprise 3rd cut!

The two different running times seem to indicate that both cuts will be included, which is awesome. I don't think the theatrical version has ever been available on physical media before (though it's been all over streaming).

I love this movie, flaws and all. It's actually pretty remarkable they were able to make it work as well as it does, given the limited post-production time they had.

I KNOW!!! I've never been this excited about an announcement. The first time I watched this film I watched it again first thing the next day, one of my all time favorites

I was happy just to see this announced, but the two different runtimes really has me intrigued.

I updated my post just now, looks like it’ll be the theatrical cut and home video cut.

Dante has screened his preview/rough cut in 35mm on a few occasions. I’d be amazed if Paramount kept the negatives for other shot material
