Default What we'd like to see in coming firmware

I started this thread to see what ideas everyone had for possible future firmware updates, and maybe, just maybe, someone who knows how to get in contact with sony will read this thread and put the people in charge onto it. And if not, it's fun just to be creative anyway.

Some ideas I have:
- Backwards compatibility for 40GB models. We were all thinking it, and with 7 processing cores, an ultra powerful gfx card, and 16 times as much RAM as the PS2, we all know the ps2 can be emulated, just a matter of time
- 2sai or better anti-aliasing for ps1 games. Surely there is more than enough power in the PS3 to do so, I think that will be much more visually enhancing than the "smoothing" option they have at the moment.
- New User interface for the movie player. It's not bad, but the control panel is the same as was in the PS2, and it could be a fair bit more user friendly by now.
- The option to stream audio directly through the PS3 via bluetooth. Would be nifty.
- A new range of animated backgrounds for the XMB menu.
- A more in-depth music player, with an EQ (and maybe some other dsp fx as well)

A "Top 10 Most Listened To" playlist in the Music bar. And a sub-section for Audiobooks and Podcasts in the Music bar.

I want to be able to create folders and the like to organize my XMB better. I have all these demos and games and videos and music and pictures and it is too limited on sorting. I can't take the full downloaded games and file them separately from the demos. I can't put the movie trailers in different folders from the game trailers or whatnot. I would really really REALLY Love to be able to custom organize everything within the existing selections (videos, images, games, music) so I can get to what I want to see quicker instead of scrolling through everything hoping to find what I want.
This would really be useful for when they start adding video content (movies, tv shows) to the PSN.

This is on my list as well as I've eyed those blu-tooth headsets at the Sony store. Would be great for late night listening.

How about downloading songs/movies/audio books through Sony music store. I would like it if the PS3 was compatible with my iPod touch.

yes, this is where the XBOX360 is killing us. I hope that Sony comes through on this end soon.

a Blu-Ray image that flashes up before playing a movie! Just like the PS3 one before playing a game. + DTS HDMA just for Oldboy 7.1 alone.

DTS-HD MA internal decoding. If I get that I don't care if they never add or change a thing.

Maybe no one cares but i do... I was thinking how in the world would i contact Sony for a firmware or an update to their system

I would love to see more support for the Mpeg4AVC files

I encode my Movies in Mpeg4AVC and stored them on a External Hard Drive to see them in my PS3 with extra languages and subtitles or different encoders like LPCM, AAC, or Dolby but it just appears the default audio and no subtitles to show others...

Also the support for installing other Systems like Windows or MAC in its hard drive

Those would be a Major Update for me...

Cool

I'd like to see a clock on the XMB. Preferable in the bottom right corner. Also we need more file support. Or what about a little application that converts whatever file type into a compatible file type. Just some ideas I had.

A clock would be sweet, I'm surprised it hasn't been included yet.

+1 DTS-HD MA internal decoding. This would be great. It's disappointing watching something in PCM then watching a FOX movie which [I]could[I] sound as good, but it doesn't. I know a lot of people request this on the playstation blog, hopfully it comes soon. Aside from that, accessing your friends list in-game, for messaging and chatting, all without leaving a game your in. I dont care so much about full XMB access, just friends. I think this is my 100th post. w00t
