Default New 65" VT - how to use it at first?

It's my first plasma display.

In spite of the jacked up commodity pricing, I sprung for a VT. It's still less expensive than my last display. I could still find a ZT, but at even 50% more, I figured I be pleased enough with the VT having only LCD's up to now and never a 65". I shipped cross country, and it should arrive tomorrow. My best LCD set has a failure and needs a repair, if I decide it's worth it.

I've read some about breaking it in, but it seems this is simply to prepare for calibration rather than for routine use? If I can wait, then I can simply watch 100 or more hours of full screen programming. Is this correct? I'll just use someone's canned settings for that period. I'll calibrate myself with a colorimeter and Calman software. I had professional calibration once, and I was profoundly disappointed and had to fix it up afterword. They don't really tour up this way.

Anything else I should consider?
