Epic: Work On 360 Unreal Won't Start Until 2008

Holding out for the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament III? Don't hold your breath. Epic vice president Mark Rein says that they haven't even started work on it yet -- that'll happen "early next year."

The reason the 360 version is lagging, says Rein, is "the mods":

The PS3 is an open system, and they embrace user-created content. But there isn't really a way to do that on the 360. So our job, when we finish the PS3 version, and we've taken a little break, is to sit down with Microsoft and to figure out how we can do mods on their system.

That's nice to hear. The longer we have exclusivity the better. I am excited to pass this along to my XBOX lovin' friends.

You know MS is going to tell them to go to hell right? MS refuses to let games use a different online interface than Xbox LIve. And they also aren't too keen on the idea of users uploading stuff to their servers. I see one of two things happening. Xbox gets a watered down version of UT or Epic tells MS to go to hell altogether and drops UT for the 360.

It will be very very interesting to see what happens here just from a battle of wills/politics perspective..

Microsoft knows about them there Window CE source virus..

...they fear them like the plague.....

, what no windows CE web browser for the xbox360 you don't say...

..but ...but both the playstation 3 and the nintendo Wii have WEB Browser's...

Im hoping (no, PRAYING) for Epic to tell MS to go to hell.

Well epic wanted to offer free downloadable content for Gears of War. Well they lost that argument cause they cost microsoft points.
Since the game will be on a dvd for the 360 I see allot of content for M$ to line their pockets with.
