United Kingdom Once (2006) Icon release UK

Watched this last night and really enjoyed it. Anyone have information on the UK Bluray? I don't see much info on the film anywhere. Shame such a cool little movie is not promoted more.

It's in HMV's 2 for £22 and Play's 2 for £22 so I intend to buy it.

HMV http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProduct...;-1&sku=929576

Barely a mention www.iconmovies.co.uk/home_entertainment

I liked "Once" but that's one of those movies that to me, doesn't make sense to put on Blu-Ray. When you have source material that's sort of low-res, as most low-budget indie films are, Blu doesn't really add much benefit. I adore Blu-Ray, but it can't overcome the source material, know what I mean?

I believe Once was shot on Sony HD 1080i cameras. There is plenty of detail on the BD version. I thought the PQ was very good (4/5).

Love this movie and absolutely love the song "Falling slowly". The special features are in PAL though. I played them on my LG, but the actual movie is region free, played it on My North American PS3.

It was released on Blu-ray for obvious reasons. Blu-ray is well on its way to becoming the dominant format for viewing films in our homes. Sooner later, DVD is going to be no more and there will only be Blu-ray. That is why almost everything will eventually be released on Blu-ray regardless of the style of film. That is why Once is on Blu-ray, the future is all Blu-ray.

I'd really like to own this movie. I've been holding off on buying the DVD in hopes that a blu-ray release comes our way. I watched it on HBO-HD the first time, and thought it looked good. Now, I did see that an import was available, but I'll hold out for a US release. Hopefully it won't be too long. Meanwhile, I try to catch it whenever HBO shows it.

I bought it last month when it first came out. Extras are PAL, disc is region free. Menus and film are 24fps, 1080p, AVC, DTS MA 2.0 Stereo audio. PQ is amazing considering it's low budget origins. I was very pleased. Don't be misled by the packaging...it states the sound is in Dolby Digital 5.1 but there is no Dolby track period on the release, much less a 5.1 track.

Thanks to that1guypictures for the info.

I want to buy the Bluray because I don't want to buy the DVD. It's the only way I can support the fimmakers therefore.

I rented the DVD.

I absolutely love this movie, but is it bizarre if I have very little interest in buying foreign releases and would prefer to wait for the U.S. version? There's a bunch of stuff already out elsewhere that I'd love to pick up though...

I thought that was done already, but here goes again: 2 Featurettes: "Making a Modern Day Musical" and "More Guy, More Girl". They are PAL SD, making them non-playable on most U.S. BD players (read: PS3). Region "don't enter into it". The 2 audio commentaries play fine.

I already did, just a few posts above you. I own the disc, and will say it again...it is region free. Extras are in PAL, and cannot be played in the USA. The Extras are identical to the ones on the FOX DVD release...so if you want to have it all, buy both, buy a 2-disc case and merge them together.

The extras may be in PAL but that won't stop them being watched through a PC from anywhere in the world.

My TV handles all signals but if I were to have a problem I'd simply use my PC.

I absolutely love this movie it always makes me cry my eyes out lol I dunno why the music is just so bittersweet and it just makes the movie all the more poignant.

Definately one of the best romance/drama/musical movies ever!
