I think Amazon/Sony are screwing with people and all of the Blu-ray editions are four discs with only a photo gallery as an extra. The US and German editions have the same A/V specs as the UK, and are claimed to be four discs, so my guess is that the "Platinum" Editions only contain paper-based extras.

My copy of the Platinum Edition has arrived today. Will give Episode 1 a watch tonight. I'm glad the distributors saw fit to release it physically. With the lack of extras, i'm expecting good picture quality at least.

Wish I hadn't gone for the collectors edition now. The reproduction newspaper is more like a bad photocopy. Make sure you have good reading glasses or a magnifying glass to read it! The family tree is again too small to read. The coin is tiny and not much to write home about probably a cheap made in China job.
If any US peeps are interested, the discs say Region A, B, C |

The Blu-ray edition has slowed-down the episodes to 24 fps, it was filmed at 25 fps. Why do they keep doing this? It's a total deal breaker for me.

You should also be able to confirm the proper speed by comparing the Blu-ray to the soundtrack audio CD--if the Blu-ray sounds slightly slower, it's been sped down, but if they sound identical, then the Blu-ray is at native speed. |

Well I watched it on Netflix and it was at 25 fps. I'm also very sensitive to PAL speed-up and I didn't see it with The Crown, which is why I'm pretty certain it was filmed at 25 fps, like other British tv shows. There's no reason why Netflix would speed it up from 24 fps, as opposed to a European PAL tv channel.
And I've just checked the main title from the soundtrack, it matches the length of the 25 fps version. |

However, the soundtrack issue is interesting, because that does point to the series being native 25 fps. I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done about it, but I suppose you could inquire with Sony and/or Left Bank Pictures as to why the decision was made to present it on Blu-ray at 1080p and not 1080/50i. Well I can tell you that none of the American shows (and native 24 fps movies) are sped-up to 25 fps on Netflix France & UK. The only ones that are 25 fps are European TV shows.
