Does anyone here have the Canadian UHD of Spielberg's West Side Story, with the bilingual packaging?
I've gone through three copies of the US disc and none play on my Panasonic UB820. The picture breaks up into rainbow-colored pixels multiple times within the first ten minutes. When I had this problem before, with the Warners edition of Casino Royale, where three copies similarly wouldn't play, I solved it by getting the old Fox UHD disc, which was an entirely different pressing. Does the Canadian UHD of WSS also have printing on the back side of the plastic wrap saying "Made in Mexico"? I'm hoping to find a WSS UHD made at an entirely different plant. I can't tell if the Canadian discs are the same discs as the US ones, just with different packaging. I think I may need to buy a UK UHD to be 100% certain it's not manufactured at the same plant, but I wanted to inquire about the Canadian disc too. |

I can check when I get home, but I'm pretty sure (like 99% sure) they're all manufactured at the same plant in Mexico. US/Canadian discs are generally identical. It's only the bilingual packaging that differs in most cases.

I figure I'll buy a copy of the UK UHD, just to be 1000% certain I'm getting a disc from a different plant, but if the Canadian disc would serve my purposes, it might be easier to get. I absolutely LOVED this film, and it's driving me crazy that I don't have a playable copy yet after three US discs that break up frequently into rainbow-colored pixels. I'm absolutely willing to spend the $40 to $50 US it may take to get a Canadian or UK disc of this film that I can watch. Thanks!! |
