Default Safari now available for Windows

I don't like this idea that much, but hopefully it will make more people want to switch to Mac. Download the beta here.

This is great for me! I won't have to wait another 5-6 months until I get a Mac to start using Safari - BRILLIANT!

Download finished, time to install.

Edit: Ahh, such a beautiful browser. I'm sure some will complain about the bolder AA'd text but I love this.

Backward and Forward aren't working on my usual mouse buttons right now but I've not been through Preferences yet..

Bold text threw me .. tried to adjust, still bold. Back/Foward mouse buttons are not working for me either. Its nice and super fast as advertised, but I don't like the flat "frame/border" around the window. Its like iTunes and I hate that. Also don't like the fact that I have to right click to get a new tab. IE has a little button I press to get the tab.

All in all - super fast - faster than IE by far. Could it be better? Yup.

'Font smoothing light' helped me with the boldness, small (intentionally) bolded text does look too bold right now though.

Middle click behaviour on most things from IE 7 needs to be carried over to Safari. Middle clicking tabs to close them is a must.

I'm having trouble playing .wmv's and probably anything else I've got set for WMP11 to play in-browser.

Loading up lots of Ruliweb.com pages in new tabs crashed the browser, also loading up the Gamespot download manager crashed it.

Clicking Safari's taskbar icon should minimize it but it doesn't. When you minimise all windows/view desktop, certain actions will bring Safari back to the top all on its own.

Closing Safari kills your active downloads and you have to start all over again. A basic download resumer is needed and the downloads should continue seperate from Safari.

I'm just pointing out the problems I've had. I'm impressed with a lot of things, mainly the attractive UI, page rendering speed and favorites management.

I just downloaded it to my Vista laptop, and I love it. It's blazing fast.

Safari's inline search makes life a lot easier. So many times I searched a page in IE and couldn't even see some of the results it was highlighting.

Unfortunately the WYSIWYG editor on this vBulletin forum doens't appear to be supported. Also stuff like the search box that appears (without a click) when you hover over search isn't supported in this beta.

Hmmm. Read a couple articles today saying it's a big security risk right now.

I just hope it's better than QuickTime/iTunes. Yeesh.

It is a great browser there's no doubt. I use it at home on my Mac and now I'll download it for my works PC. I use Firefox at work currently which is better than ie6 and yards better than ie7 (which I unistalled to revert back to ie6).

I read in Mac Format magazine that according to research, Safari has increased in usage by 50% every year for the last three years.

Cool beans!

I downloaded it, installed, and surfed.

The problem I had was that when printing a page to PDF it scrunched up some of the rows of text. It gave me a debug error & shut down the browser. I liked the way the file would have looked once it got all fixed up though!

The pages sure load a lot faster then IE7. Very surprising indeed.

I think it is working well, but I have a question, about that shot up there, with all the windows going back: How do you do that in Vista?
