Metallica: Through the Never - January 28, 2014 preorder

If you didn't get a chance to get to the theater to see Through the Never or want to re-live it a few more times, soon you will be able to watch it in the comfort of your own home. We're super excited to hit you with the home version details as the film will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-Ray, digitally and V.O.D. (Video On Demand) on January 28, 2014 through our very own label, Blackened Recordings.

The DVD, Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray will include extensive behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the film including an 80+ minute Making of Metallica Through the Never documentary put together by our good friend Adam Dubin (A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica) and including two never before seen chapters.

A special limited-edition package will be available with extra goodies for our die-hard fans and the Met Club family can also expect to get a first crack at grabbing a limited-edition set including a piece of an actual stage prop used in the film as well as a lithograph print autographed by the four of us.

For those of you who aren't into physical media anymore, the digital format will include the feature film as well as the Making of Metallica Through the Never documentary.

Our international friends can look for the film on DVD, V.O.D. and digitally on the same date as the U.S. or very shortly thereafter with some countries listed below. Please check back here or http://www.throughthenever.com often for updates.

I was more blown away by the concert stuff in 3D than the interstitial stuff, which was a cool enough concept for me not to be completely bored by it.

Limited Edition Through the Never DVD

We were pretty excited to announce that Metallica Through The Never will be released on DVD early next year... which you've probably already read about here. As you probably noticed, there is a very special limited edition set including a piece of an actual stage prop used in the film as well as a lithograph print autographed by all four band members. Available first to Clubbers only, the "Doris" set includes all the various formats of the film (3D Blu-ray, 2D Blu-ray, Blu-ray of extras) as well as a 3D lenticular sticker, a limited edition bandana, the autographed litho and a piece of Doris.

Because this set is limited to just 1,000 pieces, Clubbers may enter below to to reserve a copy. If more than 1,000 members want to reserve the limited edition set, we will randomly draw "winners" so that everyone has a shot at picking up this set. We'll take reservations until January 6 at which point you will be contacted with confirmation of your reservation and a link to click to purchase. The price of this set is $169.99 and will be available to Clubbers only until January 17 or until sold out, whichever comes first. All limited edition sets will ship in late January, 2014.

I just saw the movie (in 2D) in an independent theatre and loved it. Can't wait to see it in 3D on my new TV!

Ok, idk but they have one thats 19.99 which is the regular 2D and then according to bluray.com.theres a 3 disc 3D for 34.99 thats the limited edition and then "doris" edition is 59.99. Im confused. I preordered it just in case but i wanna make sure.

Damn soo only met club members will b able to get this? That sucks. I hope not but im guessing this 59.99 isn't the dori edition. Very disappointed. Really wish they would provide it to the non members as well.

Btw, saw it in 3D Imax opening night in Norwalk(Metallica's birthplace ) with Lars in attendance and yes the film is phenomenal. Loved it.

It would be lovely if this was in 7.1. Not enough concerts take advantage of the format when concerts should benefit as much if not more than movies from the additional channels.

As a MetClub member, I didn't get drawn and won't be able to purchase the "Doris Set". It seems there are some orders that don't go through every time so I guess we'll see if there's a "second chance" after January 15th.
