British distributors Second Sight Films have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray director Bill Forsyth's Gregory's Girl (1981), starring John Gordon Sinclair, Dee Hepburn, and Jake D'Arcy. The release is expected to arrive on the market later this year.

In 1982, Gregory's Girl won BAFTA Film Award for Best Screenplay (Bill Forsyth).

Gregory is upset. He's been bumped from his position on the soccer team... by a girl! However, his anger turns to frustration when he realizes that he's not only jealous of his replacement... he's also in love with her. And though she agrees to go out on a date with him, Gregory finds that, as both a player and a love interest, she kicks well above his head. STREET DATE: MAY 5, 2014.

Main character is one of the biggest Wallys Ive ever seen, but Ive always enjoyed this film.....havent seen it in years too, so I'll be picking it up. Transfer permitting of course.

The quality of this was awful on telly.

Great film but I can't see how the picture quality will be worthy of a bluray release?

I just wish we could see a proper release of That Sinking Feeling, complete with the original audio. A boy can dream...

Update from Second Sight to the message I sent:

We had originally scheduled the release for December however it will now be February as we are trying to put together more in the way of bonus material. We have only just realised that Amazon are sending out this notice and are unsure why they have done this and certainly wasn't on our instruction. We are in the process of setting a new date with them and this should show shortly.

I see they're trying to stop the high school from being closed and Gregory's Girl is mentioned every time.

Although not up to today's standards, I thought the DVD (I have the NTSC Region 1 DVD) was a huge improvement over my old VHS copy which was taped from Cinemax satellite back in the early 80s.

It's now being listed as May 2014 here, Amazon UK lists it as "sign up to be notified".

I think it was on their FB site, I'm not sure, that SS said they were recording a commentary track maybe? Certainly looks like all new interviews with several members of the cast which is great. Grogan looks hotter now than she did 30 years ago.
