Default Can cheap or old dvd players damage a dvd?

Im going on a caravan holiday tomorrow and theres a dvd player there. Its more than likely one of those thats built into the side of the TV, it was last time.

If the player is ancient or not been looked after properly is it likely to permanently damage any DVDs I bring?

Thinking of taking some british Comedy DVDs for the evening buy am a bit paranoid.

Thanks.
