Default Believe Sony or not

First I read that Sony is on track with the ps3. Then I read that Sony hasn't started mass production yet. Then I read that Sony is having mass production problems. I want to believe that Sony will not fall into the same mess that Microsoft did with the xbox 360, but unless Sony has a big surprise up their sleeve, I don't see how they will get out of this one. I'm wondering what is holding up mass production?

They will have about 2 Million units availible by launch. It's seems like a lot, yet that quanitiy must be dispersed world wide. There will be a definite shortage of PS3's. Ebay-ers beware.

PS3 has more to worry on it's hands, like it's weak Launch titles. PS3 will only have it's worth as an inexpensive Blu-Ray player, that can play games. It's probably better you wait a year for better games and movies to come out.

But those who really want a Blu-Ray player soon, PS3 is $399 dollars cheaper than the Samsung one that is being used for displaying blu-ray at most electronics retailers Better pre-order yours asap. And if your lucky, you can have one this November.

Sony are a big bad consumer electronics company, they know what they're doing. Gotta have a little faith.

But it always helps to pre order.

Weak launch titles? Not where I'm sitting...

Like many other companies, I choose NOT to believe until I actually SEE.

I agree about having some faith. I mean Sony promised us to have 2 million units available by launch, but the problem is how do you divide that many consoles evenly around the world? I don't want to pick, but there are some good launch games coming out. Warcraft, NBA live 2007, Tiger woods PGA golf 2007 and many others. I think that there will be at least 50 launch games if not more. Keep in mind that Sony created the playstation console going back to the first one and they know that they have to get ps3's out on launch day. I think that at this point, Sony is deciding how many consoles to ship to each part of the world. Once they know how many consoles to ship to differnet territories, they need to mass produce the console and then ship them to retailers. Sony may have a big suprise up it's sleeve to make sure they don't have a console shortage.

Every console launches with shortages, because on launch day everyone interested wants one! If they could get 4 million out for launch day they would sell them all. 2 million will be impressive, and they will all sell.

I just hope one of them comes my way... We should be able to preorder from September sometime.

Believe Sony? Their PR could be better, they have pretty much used up their PS2 success credits and can't continue to rely on that to keep them in everyone's good books.

The Tokyo games show should be a real showcase though, nearly 30 playable games and hopefully the first blu-ray movie demo too.

I agree with what you're saying with 4 million consoles. I mean 2 million consoles is nice, but 4 million would be better. Dispite the high price, there will be 2 million people, myself included, that will want a ps3. 2 million just seems like a low amount. Maybe Sony will surprise us with making 4 million consoles instead. It depends on many preorders they get.

They are aiming for 4 million by the end of the year, which is a lot, considering the 360 has apparently only sold 7 or 8 million in 10 months.

Can Sony keep selling in big numbers in 2007 though? I reckon so, once they get the lower spec machine and the colour choices on the shelves, I think the 20gig console will be very attractive to consumers, and the colours will help that.

I would love to go for a silver console at launch, but it's black or black!

I'm wondering which console version will do better. The 20GB one has a smaller hard drive, doesn't have the memory stick duo and compact flash card options, and doesn't have the MDMI connection plus is $100.00 cheaper. The 60GB one allows you to go full throttle with everything. If you don't have a PSP or digital camera or both then the 20GB console would suit you, but if you a PSP or digital camera or both, then the 60GB console would suit you. It depends on what you want to go for.

The thing is though, the 20gig model is a better offering that the Core Xbox360, which really needs you to at least buy the hard drive to make online any use.

I'd like to see both models hooked up and running the same game/movie one using HDMI, the other using component - how much of a difference will there be? Not much I would hazard a guess.

As for the memory cards, well the USB slots will no doubt be able to use card readers, and even the PSP can be hooked straight in with USB, so no big loss on the inbuilt wifi.

The 20gig console is ready to go out of the box and doesn't need the user to buy anything else, at least both versions use wireless pads, unlike the Core 360.

I can see the 20gig console doing very well, and it's lower price will make it attractive when compared to the premium 360.

The 60gig version will be the one for me though.

The only two things that the 20GB lacks is the HDMI in the back and no slots for compact flash cards, memory stick duo, and pro duo.

and wifi, the 20gig has no wifi built in, though that doesn't affect the pads, as they are bluetooth.
