Default Walmart's Shipping Costs Out of Control?

Has Walmart started scamming its customers?

The reason I ask is that I was going to order a DVD from their website just a few days ago and when I checked to see how much the shipping was, and be aware that this was for a TV series in a single DVD case, that shipping costs for a single DVD was $4.99 on a $6.99 DVD.

Now, I realize that Walmart charges shipping but even this outrageous shipping cost is ridiculous. Back around November, Walmart was only charging $1.99 per DVD/Blu-ray, so what happened? $5 shipping for a DVD is a bit ridiculous.

Apparently, Walmart's shipping costs have increased:

The last time I placed an order on Walmart.com was a year ago and shipping was only $1.97 back then regardless of order amount.

Probably the only time I'll order from them if it was their free site-to-store, otherwise forget it (just like most stores).

This is why I don't order from Walmart. I only order from Amazon, sometimes from Best Buy, if I'm really desperate for an item. But Walmart has flipped its script. Not only that, but Overstock is just as bad. They run discount coupons on a weekly basis and yet they always exclude everything in their Movies, Music and Books department, which is why I don't order from them either.

That's nothing. When I worked for them, you could buy $3 blue work shirts from their "Spark Shop" via the employee website.

Shipping was $10.

For a single shirt.

First off you're a clown and should not be taken serious by anyone for your extreme hyperbole comment.

Secondly i was really curious why you're crying about a shipping increase from a company you never shop with? Sounds like a drive by troll thread to me. Thirdly isn't amazon shipping $4 for a single item ? you seem to praising them even though they have stopped free shipping , raised shipping rates and increased prime.

Right. The point I'm making is that Walmart has gotten out of control in regards to its shipping costs. If Walmart plans on actually attracting customers to its website, it''s failing miserably. Especially when you can get free shipping from Best Buy (spending $25 or more) or from Amazon (spending more than $35 and get your order shipped to you faster than Walmart.

Just saying that Walmart has gotten out of control with its shipping fees. I have ordered from Walmart before but ever since Walmart has gone out of control with its shipping costs, I simply stopped ordering anything from their website. Additionally, you need to order more than $50 in order to qualify for free shipping. It's just not worth it to order from Walmart's website.

It's not a scam if it's right there up front for you before you place an order.

If you don't like their terms, you don't have to order. You can order from someone else.

IF enough people don't like their terms, and take business elsewhere, then maybe you would see a change over time.

That's how businesses operate.

But it's not right up there in front. You have to do some hard searching to even find that, unless you go through a faux checkout process for the costs. A flat $4.99 shipping cost does not incite me to order anything from their site. Only thing that does is urge me to order from either Amazon or Best Buy. If that was Walmart's intent, then they succeeded in driving me to one of their competitors.

Have you guys noticed how much postage is now to ship things. Its not Walmart's fault. I mean its nearly $.50 a postage stamp to send a single letter envelope.

I sell on eBay and just paid shipping for a single DVD disc (no case) and its $2.00 via USPS.
