Japan Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo: The Complete Series -- April 25th, 2018

Frontier Works will release the complete series of 「ボボボーボ・ボーボボ」 (Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo) (2003-2005) on Blu-ray on April 25th, 2018. This will be a three-disc set with the original NTSC video masters presented in "high quality" ("ハイレートSD(480i)").

Of course, this is virtually certain to be a Japanese-only release, with no English audio or subtitles.

Until product images are uploaded to Amazon, you could pre-order here.

An Amazon.co.jp Exclusive version will contain a Japanese A4-Size "file folder" (or whatever "A4クリアファイル付" means exactly).

I understand that this anime is divisive, but I personally found it hilarious in the English dub, and I'm looking forward to enjoying what I can of it again in Japanese on Blu-ray, albeit, of course, upscaled from native SD video.

Further, I think the chances of the series being released elsewhere are very low, since it would have to be a 480i 4:3 upscale. The US DVD releases were bilingual, but did not even include English subtitles. So I suspect that this is the best we will get.

Good god I'll always remember the subtitle debacle. They released Galaxy Express 999 as a hard-coded webstream to disc mess as well. I think there's a reason that licensor hasn't touched anime since, at least as far as I'm aware.

I have just discovered that the Blu-ray release has its own (Japanese) Twitter account here.

I was planning on getting Part 2 of the S'More Complete Series, but it looks like it's completely gone.

I second that. This is quite a surprise, a great surprise nonetheless. Surprised they're doing three discs for such a low count series, I assume is that they're gonna be using 25GB discs.

It appears it's an SD on Blu release like Fist of The North Star. Hopefully they'll use 50GB discs, this could shape up to be really nice.

Yeah since it's SD I assume that each episode will probably be about one gig in size. I say 25GB discs because the show was 76 episodes and I figured they would go at least 25-25-26 or unless they use much more breathing room for episodes. Just speculation on my part.

I'm amazed the S'more sets can't seemed to be found anywhere nowadays. Still got mine but I would love for a company like Discotek to take it up and an SD-BD set for the series.

Wow, I was just searching for a Blu-ray release of this just for giggles, didn't know this was happening. Oh please get licensed over here with the English Dub. I know this is just SD on Blu, but it's still nice to have it on the format regardless.

Did anyone here get this, or know where I can find screencaps? There's like, not even any package shots out there.

Well not being English friendly means most English sites are not going to bother.

Yea I'm aware of that, I figured maybe an individual posted screengrabs somewhere & I just haven't looked hard enough.
