United Kingdom Bandslam Blu-ray cancelled

Maybe nobody will be interested but if you are, I got an email today from Stephi Morgan from E1 Entertainment UK who are distributing Bandslam on DVD/Blu Ray. She said that, unfortunately, the blu ray version will have be cancelled for the foreseeable future. The DVD release is unaffected.

Sad to hear, because Bandslam, IMHO, was one of the most intelligent kids movies I've seen in a while. Since it pretty much bombed at the box office, maybe E1 don't see a reason to push it on the newer format. As I said, sad news.

I will let you all know when I've got the disc but as I live in the same region as the blu ray is marketed for, does anyone know how to find out the region status of a disc using your BD-ROM drive?

I have two Eagle Releases, The Illusionist (Region Free) and Silent Hill (Region B Locked). Illusionist has no Region coding symbols on it while Silent Hill has a B logo on it. It is possible that this is how you might be able to check (but you may want to seek out confirmation from other people with Eagle releases to see if they follow this).

OK, thanks AOB. I'll look for it on the back cover when I get the disc in the post.

I have just ordered the Region 2 dvd from the UK...But would really like to own a Blu-ray copy....It is still slated for March 26th in the States but who knows if we will ever see a US Blu-ray release!!!!

I knew something was up when there was no Blu-ray released along side the dvd in the UK, so I had to make do with the dvd version. Would probably still get the BD though if it comes out as the film was surprisingly enjoyable. And the thought of Vanessa Hudgens in HD...

Yes it was cancelled, But now that there is not going to be a US release...The only hope is "They change there mind about the UK version and release the dang thing"...I was just saying that because we are running out of options on owning this movie on Blu-ray.

Soory for any confusion...Maybe Eeeper will come back soon and tell us the Italian version is region free!

Unhappy

Hey all,

just to say that I've still not received my Bandslam BD. The dvdland.it site says 2-3 delivery (at least I think it says that) in Europe so I should have gotten by now. My laptop went kaputski recently taking all my login details with it so rather than start over I'm looking for the KeyPass file with all my passwords and logins on, folder by folder. The downside to this is that if the Italian site emailed me, I won't know.

Regardless of that, as I've said before, as soon as I've got it in my sanitised hands, you'll be the first ones to hear it.

Hi all. Just to give an update:

After getting back into my account with dvdland.it, I found out why I still hadn't gotten my Bandslam BD. According to the site, the credit card I used to pay for the disc went out of issue before the card got charged for the order. They emailed me but since I didn't have access to my emails, I didn't know either way.

So, I changed the card over to my father's one and voila my order now says "lavorabile" which Google tells me means workable. So I should have the disc on Wednesday and I'll send you all pics and screencaps around the same time.

Laters!
