Thanks for posting. I love that cover art!

I was about to give up on this series after III, but I caught a matinee one day and actually enjoyed it. It answered some questions from the prev movies.

Why in every thread about a new release there's always someone whining about how they didn't like the movie?

Nobody cares if you liked the movie or not.
Exactly. If I hate a movie and there is a positive thread about it I'll avoid it. Simple right?

Yes, but unfortunately it's not simple to a troll.

Can't wait to grab this! I already own the first three, and I'm hoping the PQ for this one is equal to Saw 3 and not Saw 1 and 2 which had pretty bad PQ!

on a side note, welcome me to the forum, though i have been into high definition since the very beginning and am well into my collection. good to be able to talk to other people as well, i didn't even know this site existed until a week ago, and it is quite helpful!

i agree, SAWs are very entertaining, and apparently many more agree than disagree, since they keep doing well enough to make more of them.

This is a wild bump, but:

One personal pet peeve of mine is that I think silver foil looks tacky. It was all the rage when Blu-ray started, especially for Lionsgate titles.

I am curious if Saw IV Blu-ray covers exist without the silver foil. I know Lionsgate reissued The Descent without the foil, but I'm not sure if this one was popular enough to get reprinted. I also once imported a Lionsgate title released in Canada through Maple to avoid the foil. Didn't see any on eBay.

Never seen any of the Saws go away from the silver. Only a few have, like Descent, House of 1000 Corpses and at least one of the Rambos are the only ones I can think of seeing without.

I think I'm a victim of disc rot with this title

I've been re-organizing my shelves to make room for newer and upcoming titles. I remember reading that some of the older Liongate titles were subject to disc rot due to poor disc pressing(?). I started to check the discs from Saw right up to Jigsaw. As I'm descending from the first Saw to Saw III, everything looked great. All three titles still looking like brand new with the transparent-ish blue surface.

Get up to Saw IV Unrated and the disc surface is brown. Like a bronze-like brown. I didn't even bother playing on my Blu-Ray player.

Photo: Left is Saw Uncut. And on the right is Saw IV Unrated.

That definitely doesn't look right, or good. I would still give it a spin just to see what happens. I think I have older LG discs that look like this and still play despite being known rotters.
You sure someone didn't slip you a dvd in a BD case? I know many of my dvds have that look, not positive if any blus do.

I have several Lionsgate Blu's that look like this and play fine. I've had 2 early Lionsgate discs fail... SAW and Cabin Fever, in both cases the disc did NOT bronze like that and instead were much more subtle. In the case of SAW there was no discernible differences on the bottom of the disc and I only learned of it's failure because of the fact that the disc wouldn't load. In the Case of Cabin Fever there were hard to see small foggy spots which I previously described as a mold like pattern in another post.

I would definitely recommend checking the disc as I wouldn't be surprised if it still worked just fine.
