I am sorry to say this, but I hope people will either listen or the mods will step in and give people warnings.

There have been NUMEROUS posts from people on how they "short change" stores by returning items they got for free from somewhere else. Or bought somewhere else or whatever it may be.

Example - Link

Please - stop and keep it to yourselves. I am not a saint by any means but I find it pretty low and trashy when people openly admit how they defraud business' (that is what your doing). You are stealing. I don't need to hear about it and it does not send a good message to others either.

Like I said, I am far from a saint - but I find it pretty dis-tasteful to keep reading these posts.

Agreed, it's not far off from coming here talking about pirating.

Stealing is stealing.

Thank you for a quality thread with real merit.

I'm going to guess you are someone over the age of 35. That's pretty much the cut off age where I have witnessed the decline of basic morality in the US (my country).

Save your thievery stories kiddies. Its not impressive and in the end costs legitimate patrons such as myself more at the post.

... and don't try to justify the behaviour by questioning the ethics/behaviour of the store in question!

You might think Wal-mart is the most evil company in the world (they're not, look up Royal Dutch Shell just for one example that's far worse) but that still doesn't give you the right to effectively steal from them.

Guardian,

The younger generation has made it clear, they believe corporations to be evil so when they STEAL from them, they can justify things in their heads (air heads usually).

W/O big corps, who wins? The proles that need jobs certainly don't.

Nah, only 28 but I feel 35. Lol.

Agreed. I hate Wal-Mart with a passion but that does not mean I will steal from them or support it.

I wish this was limited to the young. I have known my in-laws to do this.

For the guilty young, it's all part of the "greedy, evil corporation" and "profits are bad" mentality. I always wonder how many have 401(k) and IRA plans in which the funds hold stock in the companies being ripped off.

The best thing you can do, if you hate the corporat giants is to simply not patronize them, and support local mom and pop ventures, whenever you can. It's the U.S. lust for the rock bottom price, instead of quality, service and reputation that has led the Wal-Marts of the world to prosper in the first place.

It's hard to be holier than thou, though, since I admit my moral/ethical compass has changed considerably, since my early twenties.

Not to mention all the negative Karma your going to bring on yourselves.

Seriously, I could not agree more with the sentiments of this thread. I don't need to read about it, I don't want to read about it and you're not impressing anyone anyway. You're just making yourself out to be a punk that no one will ever take seriously.

People will just read your drivel and think to themselves, well theres someone parents that will never get accused of over-parenting.

I see this as no different than file sharing, sneaking into a movie, rent and copy tactics, ripping off google checkout (which I did do but have repented), or sneaking candy into a theater.

let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

granted its not mature or ethical, but do we need to crucify this guy?

Or those who talk about illegally downloading a movie because it is hd-dvd exclusive. People who download movies (or make copies or rentals) for whatever reason really annoy me, and talk of it should not be allowed on this forum.

I am not crucifying anyone. Don't think anyone else is either. It was an example - the first one I came across while reading. If you search, there are others.

My point of this thread is to raise awareness in this community that constantly sharing the fact that you rip off business' and openly post about it - is not acceptable. I don't care if you do it - I am not you. I just don't want to read about it. Keep it to yourself.

Without derailing the thread - yeah people download songs/movies. However, they are not sitting here posting about it or sharing it. They keep it private.

very true drinky . I don't think they should talk about it here. but I think linking to the guy and pointing the finger at him isn't too fair. I brought up the other examples because others were quickly jumping on board saying its ''those damn youngins''. nobody is perfect and to villify people for talking about it is a tad hypocritical. but I agree that if you steal or return things where you didn't get them its not something to be proud of.

holy crap. I think i'm going to be sick. I just realized I sound like a f***ing hippy. oh god. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Thanks Drink

I have been seeing alot of this lately myself. And it is not a faceless company we all pay for stuff like this with higher prices overall.

It is justifying bad behavior with worse.
