Default Worst Godzilla Movie?

Vote for your least favorite.

To make things interesting, I'm excluding Godzilla's Revenge (1969) and Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973) because those two are often cited as among the worst. The original Godzilla film is also not listed because you'd have to be a troll to choose it.

You're not including the American Godzilla movie from 1998? Because I'd pick that one as the worst.

Godzilla In Name Only (GINO) would have won in a landslide and it's not considered a "real" Godzilla film by most fans so I didn't want to make it an option.

This was an easy choice for me, Godzilla Raids Again. The only Godzilla movie that's outright dull, offering barely any entertainment value to me. All Monsters Attack/Godzilla's Revenge, while it gets a lot of crap, I think is an alright movie for what it is, excessive stock footage aside. Godzilla vs. Megalon, while maybe not very good, is tremendously fun, so I wouldn't have voted for either of those if they were in the poll.

I can understand how Son of Godzilla could be absolute torture for some people but I think it's underrated. This is one of the few Big G films that is made specifically for children; as a result, it's about as far away from the original in tone as you can get. It has some pretty good special effects and intentionally hilarious monster battles for once. Minya/Minilla is so pathetic and as a result gets beaten up a lot (including by his semi-abusive dad), which is always entertaining. SoG is one of the few movies in the series that I don't find boring at all. And there's no stock footage! In contrast, the other two Godzilla films that are very much marketed towards children - All Monsters Attack (Godzilla's Revenge) and Godzilla vs. Megalon - are full of stock footage.

In conclusion, there is plenty that is good, if not great, about Son of Godzilla but when you're an elitist film snob, it's apparently just not good enough.

Godzilla Vs Gigan for me. I think having Big G talk to Anguirus really did it for me but that's not really a terrible movie.

Son of Godzilla is absolutely wonderful, a very charming and fun little movie. I feel like people that hate it have no soul. I always get emotional at the end.

Hey man, I have a soul... I think
Minya or Minilla or whatever is just plain awful. When I was a little kid I thought it was cool but it hasn't aged well! It looks like a cross between the Doughboy and Uncle Fester

Yeah I'm gonna have to change my vote to Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991). Godzilla Raids Again may be dull but at least it's not an insulting pile of shit.

I can agree Minilla looks a bit dopey, and Godzilla himself too for that matter, but I think the movie's a lot of fun, and has a big heart. But hey, opinions are opinions, if SoG is your least favorite I can respect that.

JeffTheMovieGuy however, there's a hitman headed his way as we speak...

I guess I can't really blame you for that. I feel like GvKG is the worst Godzilla movie while GRA is the most boring one.
