This is going to be a ways of, since Volume 6 isn't out till March. Don't be fooled, these aren't full Season sets, since the "Season" 5 set it's been half a season per release, 13 episodes a piece. Season 5 was actually the 4 movies, Season 6 is 26 episodes being spread out over 2 releases. Fox pulled this crap with Family Guy too.

The volume/season sets are; US volume 5/UK season 5 = first half of season 6 (2010 eps) US volume 6/UK season 6 = second half of season 6 (2011 eps) US volume 7/UK season 7 = first half of season 7 (2012 eps) . |

There's a big difference though, in that Futurama aired its season as two separate blocks, a year apart. The release is mirroring the TV seasons which is fair enough (if a little confusing with the season numbers). That's not what happened with Family Guy/American Dad.

Since the show got cancelled and was picked up for new episodes by Comedy Central the UK releases have been lagging behind. Sky's usual poor promotion probably hasn't helped either. We've only had half the movies as well.

If they do, they'll be up-scales - seasons 1 to 4 weren't made with HD in mind. They changed their production process when they returned to make Bender's Big Score (the first of the four DTV 'features').

At the very best they'll still be 4:3 pillarboxed - Futurama only went 16:9 after Season 4. |

They are up-scales but have better encoding with less compression than the DVD's. The Simpsons wasn't in HD until halfway through season 20 anything before that is up-scaled.

As for the aspect ratio of course 4:3 material is HD it just has black bars encoded into it, I have plenty of true HD releases in 4:3 (ie The Prisoner/Space 1999/Star Trek TOS) |
