I personally thought it's gonna be released bare-bones like a number of their recent HBO Films releases.

Anyone know whether this is owned by Paramount, as the series was, or will the movie just be a straight HBO/Warner release on home video?

My guess is that it will be a straight HBO release. Guess we'll see soon enough.

This was far too short, surely there's a longer version knocking around.Given the cheapness of the pre-order though, this is just going be barebones i think.

The original cut was apparently a half hour longer... let's hope for the best.

I liked it. It was smaller in scale than what I was expecting but liked it. Not sure how often I would watch it though. I still haven’t upgraded my DVD’s.

Deadwood: The Movie was pure catharsis for the wife and I. Sure, it was somewhat smaller in scale than seems befitting of such a postponed ending and there was little more actual closure when the film was over than before (at least in regards to Hearst, who will probably be just fine). But we loved it, and there was even a surprising amount of action. I'm looking forward to adding it to my collection next to the digibook of the series.

Sadly, I doubt there will be an extended cut. Given how streaming is the most important method of home distribution these days, I don't expect that any sort of new version would be put out on physical media but not on HBO Now. Plus, I really don't think this movie was a big enough deal to even warrant that amount of interest. I guess we should count ourselves lucky as to get any physical release at all. Here's hoping for 4K and some decent bonus features. Even that rumored extended cut would be better than just the film and nothing else, but I'll take what I can get.

That’s the link to the DVD. The BluRay page doesn’t contain a date. Sanity are showing it on October 9th as you said, though.

Ugh. I see amazon.co.uk have a pre-order up for a DVD (release 7th October) but no blu-ray pre-order.

I had an inkling they'd pull this shit in the UK.

Seems unlikely that they'd release a Blu in Australia but not the UK... hold out hope!
