Amityville 1974 (New Amityville Film)

Deadline reports that Casey La Scala will direct 1974 for Broad Green Pictures, a thriller based on the true events behind the most famous haunted house in Amityville, Long Island. La Scala wrote the script, inspired by the real-life DeFeo family tragedy.

Eli Roth and Todd Garner are producing, with production expected to begin by September.

Didn’t they already make a prequel (or two)? How many times are they going to retell the same DeFeo story? I lost all hope in the franchise after The Amityville Dollhouse and remake.

The opening in Conjuring 2 was scarier than most of the Amityville movies.

The best movie out of that franchise was Amityville II which i thought was better than first movie which first was decent but could had been better, the rest were bad and terrible plus the remake was mediocre.

This franchise is a long dead horse and dead as a doornail, enough is enough already! it's becoming overkill, i mean it had it's time in the sun but i think it's just time to let it die and rest in peace as it's earned it's retirement.

Let's move on to new horror franchises.

Really though, as others have pointed out, whats the point? Does anyone even care or remember this *franchise*? I cant imagine. Most movie-goers under 40 years old have never heard of it and hence wont give a rats fanny about it.

This still use that modified look of the house, I guess it is a continuation of the franchise then. They never got the house right in any of the movies!
