Canada The Yes Album DVD-A

Didn't see a thread dedicated to this album, and it is a deserving one.

Just received my CD/DVD-A copy. Right now on the 2014 S. Wilson Stereo mix. I did listen to the original mix before and know it so well. It is pretty much as I remember it, slightly aggressive. When I switched to the new stereo mix the first obvious thing are the dynamics of the mix. Squire's signature Rickenbacker bass line has newfound depth and punch. Also now every instrument has it's own space, so gone is the sense of clipping that is too often found in early Yes, so many instruments with none tamer than the other.

Now I always liked the original mix as it's how I've always heard it but while being faithful to the Yes signature sound this mix liberates it all. Not through yet but I def like what I'm hearing now. Can't listen to the 5.1 before tomorrow probably (though I will try hard for tonight ), but this new stereo mix bodes extremely well for the MC, M. Wilson's real area of genius.

On only 15 minutes I believe it is safe to easily recommend it even if only for the stereo mix, better mix but greatly improved dynamics is where I believe it becomes a no-brainer.

Hope the rest won't disappoint but highly doubt it.

N.B. One particular tune that seems to greatly benefit is "The Clap" even if I believe it wasn't really remixed, most probably the increase in resolution that brings it really alive.

If you're a Yes fan, do pick it up now while it's easy to do so

Edit: "Starship Trooper" is sooooooooooo well done. Part c) Würm takes on a whole new dimension in its buildup, as crisp as Yes can be (and that usually is very crisp) and then some. I'm short of calling it a revelation, but I'll just say it's the best $2x I've spent on music in a while (joining pretty much everything Steven Wilson has touched, ItCotKC being an easy other.
