The best drama I have seen in the last several months has got to be Sophie Scholl. It is a U.K. release only, but it is region free. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Sophi...-Blu-ray/1312/

Well, the most direct analogue to BENJAMIN BUTTON is clearly FORREST GUMP (though I think BUTTON is a million times better). Not sure of any other films of that particular nature but some of the greatest romantic dramas of recent history, IMO, are TITANIC, THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, THE NOTEBOOK, THE FOUNTAIN, GHOST and STARMAN.

Some good suggestions made. The best example I can think of to Button is Somewhere in Time . I love that movie (hopefully coming to blu someday)

One of my favorite dramas is "Ghosts of Mississippi", and I'm really surprised that it hasn't been put on Blu-Ray yet. Alec Baldwin, James Woods, Whoopi Goldberg, and William H. Macy deliver stellar performances, and it'd be cool to see more about how the film was made.

It is a good movie and it is actually historically accurate for the most part. The best set in Mississippi movie I have seen has got to be Mississippi Burning and it's one of Hackman's best roles.

Genres aren't set in stone, listed below are a few films which could be described as romantic dramas (or, perhaps just romantic films that can't really be classified as romcoms). The mould you're looking for seems to be epic and tearjerking romantic melodrama, and not all of these fit that specific mould - I'd refer you to the suggestions made already as I'm not sure I can add to them.

Brokeback Mountain, The Secrets in Their Eyes, The Lives of Others, A Single Man, Walk the Line, Casablanca, Brief Encounter, Gone with the Wind, Slumdog Millionaire, Up in the Air, Thomas Crown Affair (remake), True Romance, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (personally my favourite romance movie of all time, plus has a sci-fi element a la Benjamin Button), Edward Scissorhands, The Graduate.

Doctor Zhivago. Action, romance, directed by David Lean and just out on blu. The quintessential romantic epic of the last fifty years.

Drama equivalents IMO are Titanic, Somewhere in Time, Time Traveler's Wife, and The Notebook. Can't go wrong with anyone of those titles.

I quite like Revolutionary Road, but I don't think it's very romantic at all... I think i'd call it a drama as opposed to a romantic drama.
