Be aware that this is most likely the heavily cropped so called wide-screen version with heads and feet cut in half so hang on to your old 1.33 DVD if you have one as that is so much more satisfying. So much for modernisation!!

Don't always accept what Amazon says (though the title is usually more accurate than the actual region listing). Most recent Disney BDs have been region-free, even in the UK on titles that haven't made it over here (101 Dalmatians, Aladdin), so there's still some hope; if you don't wanna risk it, it'll hit U.S. BD on February 11, 2014.

"The heavily cropped so called widescreen version" is in fact the intended aspect ratio in which the film was also shown in cinemas. Only because you are used to the wrong aspect ratio, Disney used on VHS and the first released DVD (back in a time, when customers were to ignorant to accept black borders on their screen) doesn't make it any more right.

All recent Disney BDs have been region free. The last Blu-ray Disney released with region codes was afaik 'The Princess and the Frog' in early 2010. It's quit unlikely Disney would use region codes again.

Even though I have the two movies coming in from the U.K. I still had to order this steelbook as JB is one of my favorite movies.

It has English 7.1 DTS-HD-MA, according to this video.

It is incorrect, it has 7.1 DTS-HD MA like all previous Diamond Editions.

I am tempted by the steelbook but seeing as it hasnt sold out I am going to wait until its released and Zavvi send me another 10-15% discount code.

I would really love some extra info for those who have recently purchased this movie as i don't want to buy it and not be able to play in on my blu ray player. First; is the movie region free? And second; is the aspect ration correct or is it stretched and cropped like some people have been mentioning? Thanks for you help. I recently purchased region free UK Blu ray of Aladdin and its phenomenal. I'm glad i didn't wait until US version was released.

no its not, its locked to region B and C and has been confirmed by many people with region A players so if you live in america you cant watch it
