Default Marvel's Captain Britain

Quote:
I think it’s a safe bet that any and all comic book superheroes and supervillains are under consideration for possible adaptation. With that in mind, the rumor that a Captain Britain TV series might be underway is not exactly far-fetched. The news comes by way of Ciara McAvoy, an award-winning movie poster artist whose work includes Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, X-Men: First Class, and Victor Frankenstein. She teased the “upcoming tv series” featuring Captain Britain, but didn’t elaborate any further.

For those who aren’t familiar with Marvel’s Captain Britain, the Marvel superhero is a creation of Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe, first appearing in “Captain Britain Weekly #1″ in 1976. Originally intended to be Captain America’s British equivalent, Captain Britain gained his powers thanks to the magical abilities of Merlyn. Like many Marvel heroes, Captain Britain started out as a young, introverted yet studious boy who was eventually orphaned. The rest of his origin, however, is quite different, and could make for a more unique television series than what’s currently being offered.

Here’s where the talk of a possible Captain Britain series got started:

For my 1000th Tweet: Who will be playing Brian Braddock in the upcoming tv series #CaptainBritain?#Marvel Stay tune!

I can't reveal anything yet but hopefully I'll be able to soon. Waiting for the go ahead from the co-producer
A Captain Britain origin story would be an interesting blend of magical mythology, modern super hero antics, and international flavoring. Marvel’s comic book universe is greatly expanded beyond the borders of the United States, but their adaptations to date have rarely strayed outside of this country, unless it was to blow up foreign cities or to engage in warfare on an international scale. It’d be great to see Captain Britain, a.k.a. Brian Braddock, get a chance to put Marvel’s superheroes in the international spotlight, especially with Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, a.k.a. Black Panther, poised to make a big splash in Captain America: Civil War.
