Default What if sequels were never made for money?

What it studios never made sequels for profit, only if they were based on a book or had inspiration for an original idea? Within such a reality, none of the sequels you know and love would exist unless there was a story to tell. None of this, “let’s greenlight a sequel because the original did so well,” stuff.

Would you be happy?

No because no reason to label sequels as “just for money”. Plenty of sequels not based on books have worked and added a lot to their universes.

Why aren’t multiple book follow ups viewed as just for money? Movie scripts have to be thought up and written too.

What if a frog had wings? Then it wouldn't hop.
