What it studios never made sequels for profit, only if they were based on a book or had inspiration for an original idea? Within such a reality, none of the sequels you know and love would exist unless there was a story to tell. None of this, “let’s greenlight a sequel because the original did so well,” stuff.

No because no reason to label sequels as “just for money”. Plenty of sequels not based on books have worked and added a lot to their universes.
Why aren’t multiple book follow ups viewed as just for money? Movie scripts have to be thought up and written too. |
