Breaking Bad - what extras are missing in the UK? - Blu-ray Forum

I am writing a letter (yes, an old-fashioned letter!) to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment UK to enquire if the upcoming Breaking Bad barrel set will have identical content to the US release. Specifically, I'm interested in making sure we will get any disc extras that have been excluded to date.

Am I right that it's just the commentaries on Seasons 3 and 4 that are missing? Is there anything else? I don't have any of the series on blu-ray yet so can't check actual discs myself. If anyone can provide a list of differences (or post a link) I'd be most grateful.

ALL the commentaries including the missing ones have been classified by the BBFC so apart from re-pressing discs there's no reason why Sony can't include them. I feel (and I really hope others do too) that releasing the complete series set without all the available content is really quite a pointless endeavour. I want to write to them before it's too late to express that I really want to buy their UK product but only if they include everything and point out that they've already gone to the trouble of having it all classified so excluding it makes no sense from a business point of view.

I'm writing a letter because it's more likely to be taken seriously and replied to. I would encourage others to do the same. It would be a real shame if the UK version just recycled the already released discs, so if you care about this let Sony know you want the Complete Series to be COMPLETE!

As I commented in the main Breaking Bad thread the only missing extras from the current season sets compared to US are the commentaries.
The S3 commentaries were BBFC certified last year and the S4 this year but neither have been included on the UK disks to date. So these will need to be remastered rather than just recycle the existing disks.

The big issue for me is whether they include the early season retailer exclusive extras which they said they will include in the US luxury barrel boxset.

I really hope other people will bother to contact Sony, it'll be no use moaning about missing extras after the fact! I'm not holding my breath that they'll do anything but use the existing discs but I want my voice heard before it's too late.

The commentaries are the best extras on these releases, they're absolutely hilarious! I got the US releases of 1-4 for this reason.

I bought the first four season separate releases a couple of months ago. If I want to guarantee all the extras, am I best just buying the complete set, rather than the last two separate releases?

I suppose if I want those commentaries mentioned above, I'm best getting the US release?

Hi,

I've heard some unconfirmed rumours that the UK and US versions will NOT be identical.

The UK Release of Season 4, misses over 12 hours of extras (presumably made-up of audio commentaries) from the US version.

And in Season 3, Episode 3 is still censored. That is, the UK episode has an "f-word" altered/edited, whereas the US release, has the "f-word" remain intact and unaltered. I know it's only one swear-word in one episode, but it's the fact that it's cut/altered, and it shouldn't be.

So, if I were a BREAKING BAD fan, I'd definitely go for the US release, if you can afford too.

I think the UK set is only 13 discs whereas the US set is 16 discs.

According to amazon.co.uk

Normal boxset = 13 discs
Special Barrel set = 16 discs

This mean the normal boxest is just the individual seasons in a cardboard box?

Can someone confirm if the US & UK barrell sets ended up being identical or not? I have the opportunity to buy the UK set for only 115 dollars but must know if anything was left out of the release or not.
